It's funny how someone with such a poor understanding of kids would be put in the situation where he is expected to correct them. Too many adults look at kids and teenagers as "mini-adults." The fact is, the human mind isn't fully developed until it's at least 20 years old in most cases. Kids do not have the same cognitive abilities as an adult. The cop approached the situation as though this poor 14 year old had the same mental capabilities of a grown ass man.

Yeah, the kid shouldn't have been skateboarding. However, he wasn't giving the kid shit for skateboarding, he was yelling about the kid being "disrespectful" when addressing him. The cop needs to understand that he can't expect a kid to adopt a completely different vernacular and vocabulary when addressing him. "Dude" and "Man" are not terms of disrespect for kids. They're terms of endearment and camaraderie.

Cops should be forced into extensive training for dealing with youths. Especially if they're going to be expected to patrol an area where kids are going to be at. Adults just have too high of expectations from kids, especially those they do not know.

I think we here at HGF should spam the police department with emails to get this douche fired. That's fucked up.

they cant really do anything to him, that tape means nothing, its illigall to recored someones video/audio with out there premission. Thus that evidence was illigally obtained, and it cant be used in court.

Plus, the officer's position is a public service. Anything he does is under the scrutiny and surveillance of the pubbbblic.

I think the kids should have done a citizens arrest for wearing such an ugly-ass uniform.

Fact is, the majority of our membership are teenagers whom spend their free time doing the stunt thing. If someone's going to take legal advice from just anyone on here, they deserve to get into whatever trouble they get into.

I've read on multiple sites this morning that you can film anyone in a public place without their permission, for as long as you want. The only thing illegal to do is voiceover something about the person, or try to use it in an ad or sell it. Show me where it says you cannot film someone in public without their permission. I'm not saying you guys are wrong, but I have never seen anything that says that, and I went to college for film and I remember my professor telling us this.

you can film stuff in public even a cop you just cant sell or use the footage like online. you can carry a camera around all day film whatever you want as long as its for yourself. in this case they prob used it in court so its not illegal and the the news put it online or something.. this right??
