Your Favorite Horror Movies

I need new ideas for movies to watch so spit out as many horror movies you can think of that you've found to be good or that you just enjoy for any other odd reason. List as many as you can think of. Even better if you can tell me why you enjoyed those movies so much.

swtichblade romance - weird french horror movie. main character would get it.
my little eye - big brother-type show ends in a bunch of killings. all filmed through cctv which works well.

If you haven't already, watch the Masters of Horror series.

Speaking of French horror movies, I saw a movie called Ils (english title: Them) which was based on a true story (aren't they all) about a French couple who moved to into a big house in a remote location in Romania and got terrorized by.. well 'them'.. Interesting intense storyline with a surprising twist.

And I've been planning to watch MOH ever since they started airing it here but they're on at Friday nights and I'm rarely home then :S

Classics like Friday the 13th and Halloween are always a goodie for me. I'm old school though.

Watch The Shining.

Ring, ring 2 and ring 0 ... but make sure there the japanese versions ! american sucks

El Orfanato (the new one from the guy that did Pan's Labyrinth) is good as hell. Very creepy.

Some of the Stephen King novels made to movies were good, like The Shining, Misery, Cujo, and (to an extent) It.

The Fly was really good, too.

Anyway I'll contribute with a few movies I've enjoyed. Most of them are pretty mainstream and new but I guess they give somewhat of a good picture of what kind of movies I like

The Amityville Horror - I know a lot of people thinks this movie sucks, but I like the whole setting of the movie. And that people were let to believe that this really happened (before there even was a movie)
Evil Dead I - I think the whole idea of it is eerie, even though it's supposed to be a little funny too
The Exorcism of Emily Rose - I've seen this once and was very positively surprised of how good it was
The Exorcist - Still a sick movie to this day. I like how there's nothing hollywoodish in it like in most modern horror movies. That movie is still just pure evil
Halloween (1st one's awesome, I don't mind H20 and Rob Zombie's versions either) - classic slashers
Stephen King's IT - one of my all time favorites. Such a shame that the ending is so piss poor though. But still an awesome movie for all but the ending
Ju-On: The Grudge - First Japanese horror movie I saw and I was terrified
The Shining - obviously for reasons already stated
Black Christmas (1974) - Not scary really but still a good old horror movie. The original movie has also one of the funniest scenes in movie history imo haha
Candyman - Not that scary either for people who've used to movies of this genre but this movie was sort of a pioneer
The Descent - People are of many opinions about this movie, I happen to like it
The Devil's Rejects - First movie that made me think that Rob Zombie is actually capable of doing decent movies.
"Ils" ('Them') - Surprisingly good french movie
A Nightmare on Elm Street - Good old classic again
The Others - Reminded me of the Sixth Sense in a way with the surprising twist
Severance - Horror comedy. Saw this last night and thought it was both really funny and a well made horror movie at the same time
Shaun of the Dead - look above
Wolf Creek
Event Horizon - Don't watch this unless you're into scifi horror
Alien 1&2 - same as above. Really classy scifi horror
Sleepaway Camp - 1980s slasher classic
A Tale of Two Sisters - interesting hard to understand korean movie
Det Okända - A great Swedish horror movie
Rinne (eng. "Reincarnation") - following the Japanese horror trend of the likes of The Ring and The Grudge but I thought it was a good movie

And yeah there are a few good movies based on Stephen King's novels (Rose Red, IT, Shining.. oh yeah and the Pet Sematarys are just hilarious) but I think most of them have a promising start but they end up being really shitty

edit: and I'm gonna go watch the Orphanage this friday which I'm expecting a lot of.. based on the trailer

Liam, download Magic DVD Ripper and rip it with that. I've used it only once but it's really easy to use. It's not free however, but you can use it 5 times before you have to register

Evil Dead series is a classic... I actually liked that strangeland movie dee snider directed, awesome soundtrack and pretty twisted shit. Not a big fan of the newer style of horror flicks, Although pyschological horror's pretty kickass... Does CUBE count as a horror film?

I liked the realism, but not the scariest thing I've seen.

if thats "incidence at lake county" then I agree. saw it when I was little. dont hold up very much now days tho. but still a good watch.
