My Final Attempt

This entire post it about one topic, questioning HGF. Please read and respond accordingly.

As most of you know, I act like an asshole full of myself on this forum, even though thats not me at all. I nor Arse Marks have ever gone over well here, but that is fine with me, but thats not why I am making the post. You either like my videos, or you dont, thats fine, but what I am asking is about all videos posted here.

I dont go on these forums barely anymore due to the negativity that videos get. Now I see videos posted here and there and all I read is "unoriginal stunts, lacked creativity, blag blah blah" Well this is what Im wondering, in this day in age, doing what we do, it is harder to think of new creative ways to kill ourselves. So much has been done before. It shouldnt be about who has every single most original stunt, or who used that song before, it should be putting together a video that you and your crew think is awesome, and showing it to people.

Now dont get me wrong if its a video of some 14 year olds riding scooters into curbs I understand if you wouldnt like it or think its boring. Im not talking about those kinds of videos.

I thought the main goal of a Homegrown group is to come out with a DVD of all the work you've done? Why must it take 5 years to do so? I dont understand why you dont film what you want to film, put it together, and come out with it for your friends/internet/whatever purposes. People are so concerned with thinking of every stunt being original, it could take 1 year just to make a 3 minute mix up. We are young, who wants to wait 3-4 years just to make a DVD? Look at barely Living Legends for example. They worked half a year on footage for a solid mix up with original stunts, and when it finally came out, people said "Its ok, not bad." I thought it was insane, sure I've seen people jump off high stuff and breathe fire and do most of what was in there, but it was still cool to see, and had its own twist to it. People should think that is great. Maybe Im just easy to please but I think people are waiting around for a "PERFECT MIX UP of all never before seen stunts" and it will never happen. If you want that your going to be waiting a LONG time and never enjoy videos. You should be doing it because you love it and want to put it all together for fun. It shouldnt have to be 4 years to make a DVD, because if you wait that long it probably wont happen .

Just because someone else has lit themselves on fire before and jumped off a bridge, doesnt mean you dont have to. If your going to go with that analogy, you might as well never film because basically every stunt imaginable has been done. I think its about who is doing the stunt, having characters, better editing, and putting it all together to make it ENTERTAINING. If your not entertained unless every single stunt has never before been seen, then damn you need to find somewhere else to go.

Maybe Im just being to nice about it but if I look at a video and there are some bush jumps and light-tube stunts and its cool, then hell Ill check out the video cuz it looks entertaining. Im not going to be immediately turned off before those things have been done. Is that how everyone looks at it? Keep in mind this has nothing to do with Arse Marks at all, this is about all videos in general.

Im just wondering why so many people on these forums are so picky and negative towards these types of things? Please explain. Thanks

I never post on here but ive watched all the videos, I agree so much BFD mix up had the fire breath to my back, coombs bush jump and a few other stunts that are always used but I thought it was awesome to watch. Obviously the stunt has to be good but even if it has been done 20 times if you edit it good it will be good to watch. I agree 100% rico roman

if u have a crew and urself and the crew like the vids, as well as your audience in your home town or what ever like it. does it matter if ppl on a forum think its unoriginal and such. if u wanted to impress the forum ppl then u have to be original. but you can put out content that would be viewed negative on here and does it really matter, as long as the first stated ppl like it. best I could describe as I meant but I can fully concentrate right now so I dunno

Yeah, like Mike said, if you want to please us, you have to do more than just what's been done before. If you want to please the casual audience and your own group, then do whatever makes them happy, that's fine with us. Just don't come here expecting kudos and pats on the back for pedestrian shit. First off, I agree with alot of what you said Rico, people here are being harsh for no reason, guys if you dont like I video fine, you dont like. You dont have to rip people apart, this is really the main reason stopping board growth. Sure we've all done it, but with alot of you newer guys yours seeing old school HG'ers ripping people apart and joining in to fit in, trust me it doesnt work like that. Know one here expects you to agree with everything they say, you have your own opinions.

Sure yeah, if you wanna release a DVD every few months go right ahead, but like already said, you cant expect people to always love it. Thing is again, people are different, alot of people want there first or main DVD to be a big thing for them, people like Web and Mike who take this very seriously want to release a DVD they are comfortable with, and at the end of the day, if there not happy with there work its put a negative spin on things.

Let people do what they want, but eitherway everyone should be supporting each other here.

Rico, I really like you, seriously do but the whole attitude you use on here really makes me question my like sometimes. I mean I'm sure its not you but come on, read some of your posts back. I've never seen a more stuck up asshole lol. I support you guys, really do, but I dont see any love back. Hard to explain really but im sure most people here are genuinly happy for you, but just cause your doing well doesnt mean your hardcore or whatever. I see stuff here all the time that is insane, and thats the problem, its to insane for TV. Your literally in that little void between been pussy's and hardcore (no offence) where you can do stuff and people not in the HG scene will be like OMG but we may not be so impressed. You have just the right balance for TV.

I'm sure people here would support you more or hype you up more if we saw benefits or at least the Rico we all knew before all this. We wanna see you do well man, just dont be a dick about it. Lol.

AMEN! Thats exactly what Im talking about. And once again this has nothing to do with Arse Marks, it applys to all groups! It has to do with people, like you said, thinking to fit in they need to be dicks. Exactly like why this thread was closed for no reason, cuz people like Ray try to be cool by being dickheads.



Yeah I understand exactly what your saying. I know and openly admit we are not even close to being the most hardcore group out there. People like Al do stuff I wouldnt even dream of doing. Im just doing what I want to do, and not letting anyone tell me how to do it. Im not trying to fit anyones molds or expectations. And so our videos start getting more views and all of a sudden Im a sellout and all this and that. Im just happy Im actually doing something I love and its being beneficial. As for support back, I always look and comment on people's groups myspaces.

Anyway thanks for your imput brotherman, I want to hear more from others too.

Rico you can't really talk about stunt originality because you don't really seem to work hard at all in stunt originality. Your just doing things people before you did and better but getting coverage.

I never said we had originality. We do our thing but we never blatenly rip anyone off. You are seriously the king at original stunts. But like the stuff we filmed when we were down in Arkansas, everything from the stunts to the stage show, I mean, none of that was drop dead original, but it was still a lot of fun and looked great on camera.

I closed it because it's a topic that's been discussed in detail in the past. But, if people want to get their own 2 cents in about it (again) they can. Just seemed sort of needless. Yeah, Rico doesn't like something, let's draw a bunch of attention to him. If he actually wanted to get something accomplished here instead of just complain, then I wouldn't have been so quick to close.

I'm not going to close your thread again, people are willing to discuss it in more depth. I don't think there's been a complete thread dedicated to this topic, but I know it's been discussed in the "Tell HGF Things..." thread and other threads. I'm not going to go through and search the forums for all of the instances, but it has been talked about, otherwise most people wouldn't even know what you're talking about.

Attention or not, we should be supporting each other. And im sure you all know that. Rico does what he choses, at the end of the day nothing changes. Thats the main downfall with the forum right now, no love, lol.

Rico, it would be nice to see a plug for the forum at some point in anything you do, after all it all started here really. But if you choose not to, hey no big deal.

Some of you newer guys should check older threads of how it use to be, helpful, fun, and generally a better place. Sure I love the sarcasm and shit now, but it use to all be about constructive critism, how to make things better for groups. So what if something aint original, to some people it is, its us that are the old fuck who have seen it all.

Thats exactly what this thread is about. I guess I just dont understand the fad of this forum being who can rip the other person apart more. Why is about who can post the funnier, more asshole post as opposed to constructive critism?

Trust me mate, nobody wants the forum back to its old days like me. But its not a one man job, people need to pull there wait as well or this place will die. Looking at the stats we get alot of members who sign up get ripped then never post again. Then bitch that the forum isnt active. Come on guys... Help me out.

Its all about word of mouth, people need a reason to join and post. We need to think of some sort of incentive to make people want to post and to invite their friends.

Just to let you guys know, the original reason I joined here was for the free hosting. I stuck around for the general bullshit with good members.

ughhhh I like arse marks cause they come out with alot of vids that I can watch even tho most stunts have been seen before its great seeing people put vids online cause they barely ever come.. I also hate how people put new groups down for copying other stunts and doing the hunt back in the day cause my group got alot of shit for it.. its gonna be hard to have original ideas now but people who take others ideas and add stuff and can be really creative is awesome to see but everyone still gives them shit... donno what im saying im drunk. no one will read this..thanks

and everyone on here who is an older member, no reason to rag on everyone, u guys know better then everyone thus u can help new groups the most.

so if a group comes on here and sux tell them so, in a way that will help them not hurt them.
