WHO KILLED KURT ANGLE?

WHY DOES TOM ALWAYS WRITE STUFF IN CAPITALS?

I had to go on wikipedia just to find out who kurt angle is...and then when I found out he was a wrestler I quickly closed the page.

Seriously, pro-wrestling is gay guys. Why is it so appealing to people? Give me one decent reason why it's good. I've tried watching it a few times and I just can't understand the phenomenon. The people in the crowd with signs are quite possibly the lowest form of human there is. Sure, the backyard shit is awesomeness...but c'mon--the cheesy insults and piss-poor story lines/characters are enough to invoke a paradoxical array of emotions ranging from humour, shamefulness and nauseating contempt.

It's like Neighbours (you love it). But with steel cages and surgically enhanced women.

It's just entertainment with violence. Whats not to like?

I'd rather watch something like UFC if I want violence, porn if I want surgically enhanced women and cartoons/sit-coms if I want entertaiment. I dunno, there's something about wrestling that just puts me off...the way they all just carry on is ridiculous. That, and it's highly homoerotic, and not in a good way. The revealing costumes and grab-ass moves they pull on each other exemplifies this. The babes are just a cover.

And I'd be lying if I said I hadn't watched a few episodes of gaybours...not recently though. This last season has been shite. :)

ed/ is it just me or do pro-wrestlers bear a strong resemblance to manowar?

I don't see how it's any more homoerotic than any other MMA or UFC type show? Only difference is the storylines...

Because its staged and they like getting on top of one another in a variety of suspicious positions. And the UFC guys usually just wear shorts like boxers or kick-boxers wear; not fluro coloured jocks lol.

Needless to say, my manowar comparison is apt.

lol^ that was a pretty good mix-up actually.

I dunno though, I've seen some pretty brutal beat downs in the UFC, way worst than in wrestling. It just has a more real feel to it. Some of the moves in wrestling are impressive but when I know its all staged/choreographed it takes away some its legitimacy.

Still, some of that shit is bound to hurt in wrestling, staged or not.

And that's a selective picture...half of them I see wear baggy shorts (half not though lol).

Same with wrestling. Most wear shorts not pants.

UFC is basically wrestling without the intrigue, drama, or story. Wrestling may be predetermined, but they put on one hell of a show.

Yeah, but I already said the story lines/drama is shit. I could (and have written) better scripts. You say UFC is 90% holding, but wrestling seems to be 90% trash talking. Here's a cool vid I found...obviously its a matter of opinion and there's no point in arguing it, but I like this stuff better.

I have no idea why I'm defending UFC so much, I'm not even a big fan. I guess its because I hate wrestling so much haha. I would like pro-wrestling if they included more hardcore matches with shit like light tubes, barbed wire and thumb tacks in the ring because that stuff is undoubtedly cool. But until they do I'm gonna keep saying that it sucks.

ed/and then there is other ones like pride I guess, which is pretty much the same:

You hit the nail on the head.

Its all the same.

Wrestling has a sense of progression and development which means you can really follow it and get into it. UFC has that whole "Who is harder?" aspect which just makes me want to die with how mindless it really is.

True, it is pretty mindless. It's basically just go in the ring and beat the shit out of the other dude until the ref tells you to stop. I dunno, some of us like quick and cheap entertainment like that. Image file not present in the recovered backup

However, I don't think it's the same in terms of the fights. Obviously one is real and the other isn't--but wrestling has to have some appeal as it's been immensely popular for a long time. I just don't see that appeal, personal choice really.

I did, too. I just don't get why all of these angsty teens get their hardons all tangled up in their drawers at the mention of Kurt Cobain. He wasn't a gifted vocalist, his lyrics were mediocre at best, and his band is partially responsible for the mediocre cesspool that is today's mainstream rock environ. Fuck that guy.

Why aren't you on AIM?

Eh, Kurt Cobain is cool. Yeah he was over rated, but so are The Beatles and every band that has influenced the music industry.

I went to bed right after I made that post, is why I wasn't on AIM.

Well I don't really like Kurt Cobain a lot. But the dude is talented, everyone interprets shit different. I doubt you would think NAS was hella talented, just not your taste.

Matches with thumb tacks
Matches with barbed wire
If you watch the whole match, there's more thumb tacks too. Even if it's choreographed, it's gotta hurt like hell

Those are hardly what I would call hardcore matches (kinda, but I've seen and heard of heaps worst), still, those clips were pretty sweet. I did say before that wrestling had good stunts though and some of it does have to hurt--even though they are trained professionals and know how to not injure themselves (accidents have also happened of course).

Reminds me of the Edgar Allen Poe quote: "Sleep, those little slices of death. How I loathe them". I've heard Nas is cool though, recommend some songs/albums if you can be arsed.
