YouTube has announced that it has increased its upload size limit to 1 GB and introduced the option to upload batch videos.
The software however, is a separate download that must be run off the users hard drive. There is still the option to upload through the browser if you so choose though but the new size limit does not apply.
The new size limit should help to solve some of YouTube's video quality issues as the compression will not be as high as current videos are.
This latest move should also give YouTube another edge over the competition, because most offer only 100 MB maximum uploads.
Hopefully we can see better quality videos out of some groups who lack web hosting.

What is there to get?
Instead of a 100MB limit through youtube, there is now a 1 gb limit. This allows for higher quality videos or longer videos.

basically, the online upload tool is allowed 100mb. you download a video uploader that allows you to upload videos up to 1 gig

oh so your saying it still compresses 1gig videos to the same quality as if I uploaded a 10mb video?

No, it doesn't compress them to a 100mb quality.
Youtube uses more of a conversion than a compression. Whatever you upload to youtube is converted to a flash file (.flv). It results in a small downgrade of quality.
But the higher the quality the higher the end result, as the amount of compression remains the same, if you get what I'm saying.

That's bullshit. The way to get the best quality out of YouTube is not by uploading at the highest quality possible. It's all about the framerate, I.e. 2.1 mbps. 2.1 or 2.2 is pretty much ideal for YouTube, that is if it's a .wmv file.
It's different for different files: .mp4, .mov, etc.
