Sony Hdr-hc3e

Hi,

I'm thinking of investing in another camera, (or a new camera) and diving into the world of HD
My mate has the sony HDR-HC7 which is wicked.
I'm considering the Sony HDR-HC3E as it's slightly cheaper and wondered if you guys had any personal opinions or experience with the HC3 cam'?

Would it be a good buy & how much do you think I should look to pay for it?

I got the HC7 and Ian has the HC3.

From what I've seen the HC3 is able to record a wider colour spectrum in low light, whereas the HC7 (if not used with a light) can be quite grainy. Although that isn't to say they aren't both amazing in low light themselves, it's just a subtle difference really.

The HC7 has a 37mm thread size which means you wont have such a hard time finding compatable lenses or filters which can be a bit of a bitch.

um well I use the HC3 and I like it alot. its small and super easy to film with, and it fits really well in your hand and such. I payed $600 for mine brand new.

HC7 is the exact same size so...

what do I need the infared for? for the night shots?

Yeah it's basically a larger infra red bulb than that which the camera has built in so you can film more in darkness.

I was in my garage in pitch black and could see everything.

I kind of want an inferred light but I dont really find the use for it other then pranks, unless u dont mind your stunts being green.

I noticed that on the hc7 with my fish eye it cuts off the night alot

I think its the way the curvature of the lens absorbs the surrounding light.

Does it look like a small spotlight in the middle of the screen when using a fisheye?

the top corner of the night shot is taken out with what looks like a small moon (fisheye)

I dont usually have that problem with my fisheye and its pretty big. Post a pic of your cam with your fisheye on.

in a way it looks a bit silly lol, dont even know what it is lol, bought it when I was in america... 'Titanium Super Wide' is all I could find...

Remove the macro to get more "fishy" effect.

Mine looks kind of like that, only better.

My hv20 is fucking sexy with ridiculously big sony wide angle.

Have you tried removing the macro? When I HAD my kenko lens, that looks very similar, I never used it with macro attached.

The only thing that makes it good is the fact it uses something made by Sony.

I have that lens, how do you remove the macro?

Unscrew it in the middle where the black band around the centre is.

Thats what its like for a Kenko SGW-043 anyways.

ah ok, its just I glued 2 lens together (to make a baby death lens) which was that macro lens. so I'll see what happens now lol

I did that, took me an hour to unscrew due to no grip and the top part way too tight.

the 3 sections couldnt fix together without the center part. so I remove the middel lens and it dont focus.

any help?

Put the macro back on.
