We've been filming since '99 on a shitty ass hi8 cam, we got shitloads of footy and now I saved up and I'm getting a fx-1 soon, so before we start filming in hd, I wanted to get all this old footage on my pc and use it for 'bonus material' on our DVD, considering it's hi8 and shitty quality...
Sooo I bought this exact product
http://www.kworld.com.tw/product_overview.aspx?P_ID=26 yesterday, to capture all our footage for editing purposes, I plugged all the shit in, installed the drivers blah blah, BUT when I playback the footage, the audio is only coming out the left speaker...
Can anybody help me out?

Does your camera have both a left and a right output for audio?
My old Hi8 didn't, so I had the same problem.

Nope, I got one yellow cable for video and a black cable for audio... but I thought that could be the problem so I went to an electronics store today and bought a new cable, with two audio cables (white and red) and one video cable (yellow) but I'm still only getting shit on one speaker???

What do you edit in? In Final Cut and Premier you can determine which speakers the audio comes out of I think so just set a balance and you should be fine.

I got ulead movie factory with the program, I got wmm2 and I also have a copy of adobe premier somewhere in my room, just got to find it... but won't that make the quality of the sound shitty?

Nah should just equalise it.
