Creating A Hoax

Is it illegal to create a hoax then spread the word about it. For example, I go around with fliers saying there is a zombie outbreak. I want to do something similar but much more believable, and I know the people in my town will fall for it.

Perhaps if the fliers were racist or derogatory in anyway and some pople were offended, then I'd say definately. But a zombie outbreak? you'd have to be pretty unlucky to be arrested for something so trivial like that.

As long as the false information doesn't lead to any sort of harm or damage to anyone or anything they can't really do shit, freedom of speech and such.

Well to me a hoax would be something that could cause trouble or panic or something, so I would assume thats illegal. But like I said, whts the cahnces of actually getting tracked down.

What did you have in mind?

Well, my town is made up of people that will believe anything, I'm not sure what you'll think. There is a big weapons station right next to and basically in my town, it is a known fact that they dumped (buried) a lot of waste in and around the area. There's a ton of geese that hang out around there and one day me and a couple friends were joking around saying that they could be mutated. We made up a story and told some people about it and they completely believed that it was true. That's what got it started, I want to make people either believe that it is true, or be wondering what the hell they are. I'll do it either way if it's illegal or not.

id say its a possibul terrorism threat, if it gets serious.

I cant imagine getting caught, it seems pretty hard. If noone's interested, theyre not gonna call the cops, theyre just gonna throw the flier out.
