Saw it coming, to be honest.
They've already said they won't let the Halo franchise die, but this is the end of the Master Chief arc. Makes sense, really.

This is true, I just read the story (which is confusing as all hell). You're supposed to believe that the Chief dies, but he's just drifting through space in stasis. Another movie shows his pod falling towards a planet just after the credits.

I remember when they ported the original Halo to PC, I bought a copy because everyone I knew with an XBox was saying how it was the greatest game ever made, had the best story, yarda yarda.
I installed it, was unimpressed and subsequently deleted it.
Perhaps if it wasn't hyped so badly, I might have thought it was okay, but I was expecting the "best game in the world" which clearly, it wasn't.
