Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem

So some of you might want to join me in saying that the first AVP movie was probably one of the worst mainstream movies in the past few years.
Surprisingly they're making another AVP movie and to be honest, this one looks a lot more promising than the first one

Personally I'm a big fan of the Alien movies and the AVP games so I'll watch this for sure. I'm not gonna get my hopes too high though this time around

I'm a huge Aliens fan, and was bitterly disappointed with the first Aliens Vs. Predator. This trailer seemed good though, lots of gore, which is a must for any Alien or Predator movie and it also seemed like the Aliens were actually kicking some arse this time around.

I also won't be getting my hopes up, but I will definately be seeing it when it arrives, cheers for the heads-up.

I'm looking forward to this as well. and the only thing cool about the first one was the leaping facehugger scene.

And yes, the games are everything AVP should be about. I'd rather see them actually make a movie that would be like the scenery in the games. Just like Alien 2 but with a Predator to go along with the marines and the aliens

The comics came first. They were just another crossover, like Superman vs. The Terminator. The series was largely inspired by a shot at the end of Predator 2, in which a Xenomorph skull trophy is seen hanging in the Predator's ship. The crossover gathered strength, and became the franchise we know and love today.

arrrggghh now they've gone and fucked up the entire story of aliens


remember in alien when ripley is getting interrogated over the destruction of the ship. she mentions that the nostromo homed in on the bone ships beacon to land on lv-426.. they say that no life form of the forms described (the xenomorph) existed in their records of over 300 surveyed worlds

well if the movie avp requiem is set on earth in a fuckin city then im sure that thousands of people would know about it.. it's logical that with one survivor in avp (the first) that the whole deal could be covered up due to the apparent desolation of the area that was inhabited.. but a weyland-yutani cover up based in a city would be much harder to pull off in reality

but all in all the trailer looked awesome enouch to warrant my money

Maybe the board lied to Ripley all along; after all, the plot of Aliens is that they send Burke along with the Marines to ensure a Xenomorph gets back to Earth for study. But when he gets these orders, everyone's still laughing at Ripley and her story. It's possible that they knew, and now see a chance to capture a live specimen.

Maybe they don't want to admit they knew about either race for fear of being seen incompetent since they have no way of controlling them.

The first one sucked and was comprised of shitty fight sequences that fell into one of the following:

- Too blurry.
- Too fast.
- Too dark.
- Shit camera angels.

the timeline would go along the lines of

aztec era: predators land on backwater planet (earth) and use the xenomorphs for the rituals

avp 2004: predators arrive on eath again.. weyland group leads expedition to find out what landed.. one survivor and basic knowledge within the weyland company (later weyland-yutani)

avp 2: aliens in a city?? surely there must be an insane amount of people who would have seen the xenomorphs

alien mid/late 21st century: the company shp homes in on a distress signal, later it is realised that the company wish to obtain the specimen even if it means expending the crew

aliens 57 years later: the company send carter.j burke out with ripley in a bid to maintain the survival of the xenomorph..

but the board of directors state that the xenomorph doesnt exist in their records (understadable keep it secret and shizzle) but then theres the fact that if the avp 2 movie is set in a populated town then people would have seen the shit going down...

they are just re-writing the story's history as they go along

Another contradiction, and further proof that the corporation has at the very least knowledge that the alien species exists. Otherwise, Ash would never have the protocol set to recover the specimen, why would he?

In my opinion, that the company is COMPLETELY unaware of either the Xenomorphs or the Predators is a simple lie; to discredit Ripley as a scapegoat for the events of Alien.

but then this little thing comes up in my mind.. like if the events of avp 2 are going to be considered canon, a city wide alien infection would be difficult to cover up completley, I mean in real world circumstances there would be news reports, word of mouth, eye winess accounts and survivors.. with all this taken into account ripley must've heard something prior in her life time before setting out on the nostromo

I think it comes down to the fact that almost every movie with Xenomorphs has been made with different writers, directors, production teams etc. While I'm sure they all try to continue the saga by researching the previous films, there's bound to be mistakes made or different assumptions about each film and the correlation with the others. This is a purely uneducated guess though.

Seeing as you both know a lot more about 'Alien(s)' that I could ever dream of, do you know anything about Aliens 5, for example, will it ever be created?

I can remember reading something about Sigourney Weaver saying she'd love to play Ripley again, and was talking to Ridley Scott about doing another one.

Probably just another Internet rumor though.

I'd love to see a 5th one. The only weak one imo is the 3rd movie, but the 4th redirected the saga back into a good direction. So there's no reason why a 5th one wouldn't be good
