yeah having a master copy of your footage is a must, files get currupted computers fuck up and eventually your cam will break.

When you put you're footage on you're computer you can also save it on a DVD so I would have my footage in the camera , in my computer, and on a DVD. Impossible to loose footage and its better quality than mini-dv...

why ask for our insight when it seems u already made up your mind?

to me hard drive cameras only plus is quick uploading and cheaper to film with. if your hdd breaks, the footage contained in it is lost forever. and backin shit up on dvd's is going to take longer then capturing mini-dv, making the hard drive cam's ultimate plus an actual drawback in the end.

meanwhile tape cameras have no limits on how much u can film as long as you have the tapes and battery life. you can just pocket a tape and keep filming, meanwhile hard drive cams you would have to go home and upload it or delete something on the spot. and in the midst of something amazing happening, your going to miss it. also the avg mini dv is better quality then the avg hard drive cam.

but if your a cheap ass and dont take filming that serious, get the hard drive cam.

I went to look for a new camera and I think I'm going to buy a Sony HDD do you thing its more useful because we don't have to buy mini-dv or dvd it has a 30 G hard disk drive. You film than you put you're stuff on you're computer than you erase the footage on the camera when its full.

Then just get a cheaper cam (mini dv with night shot) and spend the extra money on a bigger battery, a nice fisheye, a light (if you film at night and want good quality), and some tapes!

Don't you guys already have a GL2?

For a cheap yet good camera I'd look into the Panasonic GS series. No night shot, but that's what lights are for.

the GL2 is broken but when it will be repair we will use my camera for the second angle
