I got a new casing for my PC, I've just gutted my old one and fitted my motherboard and harddrives etc.. in the new casing.
When its all put back together, the computer turns on, but when I plug in either my mouse or keyboard it just turns straight off and I have to wait a few minutes to try again. It only happens when the mouse or keyboard gets plugged in.
Does anyone know what might be causing this and how I can fix it?

Sounds like its not getting enough power. You switched the power supply as well or using the one that came with the new case?

I used the on that came with the new case (the void sticker was broken) and I was fiddling and accidentally switched it to 115V from 230V which blew it. (This happened after the mouse problem).
I've since replaced the power supply to the one in my old machine and there is still the same problem of the mouse and keyboard turning it off.

My guess is you need a new motherboard. Or try plugging the mouse and keyboard in before you turn it on.

If all else fails, you could buy the little USB adapter thingies for both your mouse and keyboard and use them that way.

I was on my brothers PC posting that.
My motherboard contact was shorting out onto the casing because I hadn't put in any stand-offs. It's all sorted now any my PC is better than yours!

Yeah, well my pc I had to fight through a crowd of shitheads to get! I even threw an asian guy into a shelf for it!

Since this is open I have a new problem, does it make a difference if you mix DDR1 RAM and DDR2 RAM?

I just double checked and it turns out I am running DDR for all 4 sticks. I have 3GB's of RAM but today its going so slow... is there anything I could have done wrong?
There are 2 sticks of 1GB RAM which are identical, and then 2 512MB sticks which are both different to eachother...
