Unfortunately we've lost 4 months posts. I have a more recent backup which will bring us up to 1 month of lost posts.
I was upgrading the board, I had backed up everything and decided that the new version of unreal portal was horrible because it didn't allow you to navigate to the end of a thread and didn't show which threads had new posts so I dropped the database tables only to find out that shitty PHPMyAdmin had missed half the backup out. I restored it with a database file I found from like February and merged that with the recent backup of the members tables so that the members database fields are up to date.
I have no fucking clue why I used PHPMyAdmin to backup the DB because I always use the shell due to reliability and I so shoulda backed up the upgraded DB, but I guess I just learnt my lesson.
Unfortunately most of the last months posts are permanently lost. I'm not sure it's a massive issue though.
I apologise for the inconvencience.

22 July 2007, 02:20 UTC#3

22 July 2007, 02:23 UTC#4

No, as I said I didn't like the new versions portal. It had shitloads of features which were paramount missing. One good thing that came out of this is I found the table which was preventing us admins changing peoples user groups, banning them and so on

22 July 2007, 02:49 UTC#6
Shit happens mate.
As long as the site still works, all is good.

22 July 2007, 03:14 UTC#9
Shall I even bother restoring the 1 month old backup? Aint much point because most old posts will drop off the portal fairly soon, right?
22 July 2007, 03:18 UTC#10
I wouldnt bother. like you said, most old post will eventually fall off the portal.
22 July 2007, 03:23 UTC#11

Yep, I isolated it to a table called ibf_forum_perms which was missing, I simply manually created the table and copied a hierarchy from another forum and bingo

22 July 2007, 03:32 UTC#16

MySQL doesn't suck, silly
I just shoulda known not to trust a PHP based tool to properly backup my data. This is the way it should be done:
