Any Of You Cook?

uuummm I'm at my collage cource now and yes I'm still in my last year of school....
I was wondering if you had any ideas for the tak I have just been given....
the local hotel in your area is holding an international week. you have been invited to take part and have been asked to prepare a selection of dishes from country/countries f your choise...
I just wanna here some of your idea thats all that is of cource if any of you are interested by this kinda thing...

Nah you have compulsary education till 16 Then college or 6th form up to 18 then university. If I remember correctly despite how old steve is mentally he's a year or two older than UW isn't he?

Yeah, that stuff's all different from the States. We just have High School til 18 or so then college, which is Uni, for 4 or so years after that. We don't even use forms at all. Just grades/grade levels.

Sounds about the same as here, except we have both universities and colleges here. College is 4 years (only bachelor's degree) and university is 1-2 years extra (master's degree) or even more if you're doing doctoral studies

edit: oh and our highschool is divided into two (much like junior and senior high) but only junior highschool is mandatory then you can choose whether you go to senior high or to get a 3 year education to some lower level profession (cook, electrician, plumber & whatever etc)

Yeah Ben, we just call it all college. If you want to stay in college for an extra 2 years you can go to a different college to get your Masters or Doctorate, but we just sort of use the same word for it. Sometimes people will say "Grad School" like post-graduate studies sort of thing, but it's all called college. So we say we're still in college and all of the Brits think we're a bunch of 14/15 year olds well...they would if they didn't know us.

I used to be a chef, I used to love the work, but hours were intense, 4 years was enough for me.

I've been a chef for almost 5 years now, qualified for about 1 year.

You're right, the hours can be intense but I've found it's better to work in small, local, a la carte style restaurants rather than the big hotels, mainly because there's not a lot of kitchen 'politics' and the work atmosphere is a lot more friendly.

To the original poster, seeing that it's 5 months later, I would like to know what dishes you chose and if you finished your catering course or not.

im not much of a kitchen cook, but put a barbeque grill in front of me, and ill compete with the best.
