Can Your Pc Run Vista?

Apparently mine can, however I need another 512MB of RAM to experience the true benefits of the Aero interface.

Am I the only one who thinks the minimum requirements for Vista are excessive and bordering on proposterous.

Not sure yet, it's downloading, but I have a nice broadband connection and the Microsoft server is only pulling 17Kb/s what the fuck?

How much do we need to install for this? Image file not present in the recovered backup

Downloaded pretty quick for me, perhaps the US mirror is saturated.

Yeah, says mine can, but I need to up my RAM for it to run without going shit.

And it took me 8 minutes to download the .msi for it, and then I had to get the
.NET bullshit to run the installer, went through so much just to find out something I sort of already knew. :sad: stupid lame Microsoft site.

I kinda want Vista, but I'm reserved about upgrading to it because of the ridiculous system specs.

Can get it much cheaper OEM, not worth buying software at retail prices. Image file not present in the recovered backup

I doubt Vista will be worth pirating, @ ~4GB and considering Vista is bound to be harder to get any updates for. I'd rather just splash the cash, or buy a new PC and get a free upgrade :)

I wanna get Vista but I heard that they only have the 32bit version out now and not the 64bit so that means that 32bit is basically like a beta and it still has alittle bit of problems and isn't compatiable with a few things.

I talked to a guy from bestbuy and he said wait another 5 months until a better version comes out, so I dunno.

Probably not worth it, I have pirated copy of XP. It worked well for first two years, but recently I have encountered some problems because its pirated. Had to format couple of times and so on, afterall didnt get that good pay for the hours I worked.

I'm strongly considering a new PC, I've wanted to try the Core2Duo's, Corsair RAM and SATA2 drives in a desktop for some time now.

Might not buy it right away though, I don't like the sound of the added security against pirated stuff.

Oh yeah, you reminded me.

Vista automatically degrades the quality of audio unless certified. Meaning all MP3's will play in worsened quality.

Think I will wait it out, XP is still a good OS.

My new computer came with a free copy of basic vista, so I guess it can. I'm not even gonna bother using it though.

I still have Vista Ultimate - Release Candidate 1 version installed. That was the free test version I talked about few months ago. This will expire within 1-3 months.

So I know my computer can run it, because it does run it. It has 1 gigs of RAM, don't try it with 512 MByte, it will slow things down quite a bit.

If one has a spare Hard Drive, not to fuck up your live production system, and you can get a Vista disc, you can try it for 30 days without having a valid key. You don't have to enter a key when it prompts. You cannot activate it though, so it expires in 30 days.
