Protect Your Videos

Unless you dont give a fuck about being ripped off, you really need to consider watermarking your videos.

You need to watermark them good, otherwise they'll be cropped out or blurred out. Use thick lettering, big font that stretches from just about 1 side to the other. Place the watermark sligthly below the center of the video.

It wont make your video look pretty, watermarks are actually pretty annoying, but its the only thing you can do to combat this problem.

Homegrown groups get stolen from all the time, and usually they dont even know about it. These sites profit from stealing your videos, while you get nothing - not even credit. This problem is only gonna get worse.

Everytime you upload a video to the internet, make sure its watermarked. If the video is really good and potentially viral - I recommend adding a title at the end saying something along the lines of:



Theres no sense in you not protecting your content.

Ive only just started finally getting into making vids and shite (as I just got a camera). How do you go about watermarking? I'm guessing you'll need to use a program like Photoshop or something?

nah just put text on it but make sure you fade it so you can see thru the video :-)

I have a feeling our busfight and cactus tackle segment will get stolen one day, thats why we're taking 'em off youtube pretty soon...that and we deserve cash for those clips I reckon (cactus tackle might also get re-edited with surgery footage included).

Will sites like vidmax pay for watermarked clips or is that usually discouraged?

They prefer them unwatermarked...I got a good sum for Creed's head on fire and a couple other clips...Then again, they plug Dan G and I think Freak Inc also got a plug in theirs...Best to talk to Erik.

yeah it will get stolen. I wouldnt use youtube as a way to share your videos. And yeah you could some $$$ for that busfight clip.

Someone ought to start up a new disturbedfilms type site for everyone.



yeah he used to pay well until you guys decided to open your mouths about it. Now everyone is trying to license him clips so he doesnt have to pay as much.

I didnt have to share that hook up with anyone, nor did I get anything out of it - and all I asked was that you kept the info to yourselves. Couldnt do that eh?

Oh well. Doesnt matter anymore anyway. Definitely made me regret it though.
