So there's been an accident recently. Last week Randy's brother was out sledding with some friends. He was being pulled behind a truck doing 35mph, flew off and landed on his head. He got up and laughed and walked away. An hour or so later he was going down a small hill, and somehow ended up landing on his head/neck, smashing his 4th and 5th vertebrae. He is at the moment paralyzed from the neck down. There is no way at this time, to know if he is ever going to have feeling below the neck. He had his surgery on Sunday, but there still isn't any movement from what I'm hearing. I just sit back and think, wow, out of all the shit we have been through, all the stupid stuff and close calls; sledding of all things, something that kids start doing when their 3 or so; is what took one of us down. I'm not sure what this is going to do to our filming careers, but it's not really important at the moment. I've never been the type of person to pray for anything, because I believe if you want something, or need something, you have to work hard for it. But this isn't really in anyones hands.
The whole crew and all his friends have taken a major blow this past week. There were around 50 or so people in the waiting room when I got there. Amazing how one person can touch so many people's lives. The only thing we can do now is sit back and wish for a miracle.
Basically the point of this topic was to show people that at any time, any place, life can change in a single second. From jumping off bridges, to lighting ourselves on fire, to car surfing, to sledding. We went through it all and made it out with only minor scrapes. But this just shows how the smallest things, can make your life do a complete 180 in a matter of seconds.
I will keep you updated on his status when it becomes available to me. Only words of advice are every stunt and prank should be well thought out, and be prepared for the worst.

Shit man, I hope for the best for him and all of you guys.
30 January 2007, 15:34 UTC#3
Yeah man I hear you. I have been thinking about this kinda of stuff a lot lately. Mainly cause ive been thinking of doing stunts again(havent done any in over a year)
I love the thrill.. but I keep thinking is it worth the risk...
Peace out and allt the best to him, his friends and family.
30 January 2007, 15:36 UTC#4
Oh and I forgot to mention. When I went in and talked to him, he was in good spirits, and he told me "Man out of all the stuff we've done, I break my neck sledding. But the camera is on the front seat of the Jimmy, you should check that shit out."
We haven't watched it. Don't know if we can handle that right now. But yeah, at least his spirits are high.
30 January 2007, 15:48 UTC#5
Shit man, so sorry.
You always think this shit won't happen to you, but then it happens to someone you know and there's disbelief. Amazing how fickle health and life itself can be.
Keep us updated with his progress, my thoughts are with you guys.

shows how life can be taken at any moment.
Unfortunately that is so damn true, and usually it's through something you'd never expect to happen.
30 January 2007, 17:30 UTC#8
Ahh fuck man. My best wishes go out to him, his family and friends. Hope he pulls through. Keep us updated. x

Raymond told me about this couple weeks ago man sorry about the whole thing.. happened to me once going down a hill getting pulled by a 4 wheeler hit a tree face 1st luckily I wasnt to badly injured... but this summer one of my friends rolled his car and another friend was tossed out and under the car he was told to be paralyzed from the neck down but now he can use his arms and a there is little movement in his hands... sooo there is hope of your friend getting better but I wish him luck!!
30 January 2007, 18:19 UTC#10
Damn man, fell so bad for him and all you guys. Hope everything comes out the best it possibly can
30 January 2007, 19:39 UTC#11
I'm really sorry to hear that Mike. My best wishes go to him. Really they go because I think a lot of us including me can relate to this not with the outcome obviously but dealing with dangerous antics. I hope he fully recovers, no one deserves this.
Eventhough this wasn't homegrown related, I think it's safe to say doing stunts is like russian roulette and you might consider yourself lucky if you get out of it unharmed in the end.

It's always a shock when something like that happens. You hear about people dying or having terrible accidents all the time, but until it happens to you or someone you know, it's like it's not important.
All the best to him, you, and your mates <3

sorry to hear that dude, hope he gets better.

30 January 2007, 20:10 UTC#16
ah, my bad. I read the first sentence and then my phone rang so I just did a fast reply. Thought this was about his friend dying cause when I was scrolling down I saw Liams post mention something about friends dying.
Hope your friend turns out okay Mike.

I'm so sorry but I had to mention that that made me laugh so fucking hard, especially after I saw Weak's editied post.

Can someone delete my post under Sean's please? and then this one.

Word, Mike deserves a cock in the space between his eye sockets and eyes.
30 January 2007, 20:55 UTC#22
Not to sound like a dick, I mean dude's from crew so I guess I can...but I'm really anxious to see the footage. I'm fairly certain we were going to wait until he's able to watch it with us before we do though.

I dont know man, I wouldnt want to watch it, im surprized he wants to see it himself, I really hope he recovers and it can be put in the past as one of them things.
30 January 2007, 21:39 UTC#24
It's probably going to be one of those things like.....that was it? Because he said it wasn't anything you would think anyone would get hurt on. I'm not sure if I'll ever want to watch it though, seeing your friend unable to move and with a neck brace on, kinda changes your views on things.
30 January 2007, 22:25 UTC#25
He risked his safety in a way that hardly anyone would condone. There's always one who bites it.
30 January 2007, 22:26 UTC#26
He was sledding. Read the post.
30 January 2007, 22:28 UTC#27
I have to admit, if it happened to me I'd want to see the footage too. Sucks about what happened though, hope he's ok.

Hope things get better

31 January 2007, 02:29 UTC#30

It makes you think though.
