Vegas Audio Problem

me and jam, both use vegas but we can work out how to rase the volume level for a certain part of audio.

in pinnacle it was as easy as dragin the volume line up and having the rest of the audio stay in place.

in vegas 6 there is no audio line on the audio block, only a volume level on the far left, if you turn it up, it turns everything up. even if you just highlight the part you need louder.

does anyone know away of doing these? if so you'll help us out alot.

make a new audio track and raise/lower the volume on that?

I can suggest to use vegas 4...I use it for over 4 years

yeah thats what I was going to do if I couldnt work out how to do it, but surley there must be away for something as basic as turning the volume up on a certan part.

thanks man, it worked, but why is 6 shitty compeared to 4? like whats the benefits for down grading?

I've used Foundry v4, and Sony's v6 and 7..... and I'd say Sony's is way better. :S

Everything is smoother, from the effects, to slow mo, theres really no major differences imo, think about it.

baz I need help from you on how to do the slo-mo the method you told me originaly as the quick way it distorts the slowed down audio badly.

Which way makes it disorted?? The one where you drag both the video and audio??

You can also right click on the video and click properties, then change the "playback rate" not sure if that slows the audio too... maybe highlight both the audio and video when you do it??
Anyways, I do it this way, you can get it soo smooth... dunno about the sound this way though.... hardly ever needed to do that.

Select the video.
Insert>video envelopes>velocity.

Then double click on the green bar to add a point, and drag up or down to whatever...

the only way I can do it is the double drag and it just turns out like

Ok, err, try this:

Right click audio>properties.
Method (drop down menu): Classic
Change the "new length" part to something higher, than the original.... click ok.

I'm pretty sure it's smoother that way... can't rememeber about the video though, if it's the same length and whatnot, I dunno, like I said I've never really needed it but try highlighting the audio and video... etc.

yeah its still pretty crappy, I think the fact the pitch dont change dont help things...anyway of doing that? also im stuck tryin to work out how to tilt text so its at an angle instead of normal

Not too sure about the audio stuff.

Only thing I can suggest is MAYBE getting Sony ACID.... it's an audio editing app, completely compatiable with Vegas.
Although, I'm sure you can edit the audio a little in Vegas... just never really tried anything.

The button is around the screen area, if you get me.

I can't remember what it looks like but if you just look around there you'll find it....
Make sure you set the screen size to FULL aswell, instead of preview, unless you want it that small size of course.

Adobe Premiere usually does the trick Image file not present in the recovered backup

well I would like the text to be start at an angle like......like the text in your sig infact, so I can ajust it to fit somewhere other than having plain left to right text all the time.

Oh, I get ya.... just use the pan/crop thing, and drag the circle around...

If you make a mistake or dont like it or something, just change it to default in the drop down menu, on the pan/crop window.

Edit; also, if you add points (double click) at the bottom on the little timeline in the pan/crop window.... you can have it soo its moving, just make sure two points have totally different settings... they play it, you'll see what I mean. :S

yeah man thats awesome, im loving vegas, you're defentley gunna se what parts have been edited with vegas and what have been edited with pinnacle, iv kept the same style but advanced on it so much, I didnt know how limited I was with pinnacle, I must of pushed that program as far as I could go with it, I was pleased with the results but this is so much smoother and wothwhile. altho I hate how they have hidden stuff that was a button away in pinnacle....ya know. alot of work for 1 thing that was as eazy as a click. a real shame they dont have any plug ins like colour pass I had plans on using that in afew shots.....shame

Good to hear.... thats exactly how I felt when I got used to Vegas.

I used to be a huge studio fan, haha, but I agree, some things can be a bit of a work, but I've got used to it and accepted it now.

just a long shot....is there a method to colour pass on here? just incase you've never used it...its keeping one or afew colours in the video and making the rest black & white

Nothing I can think of does that....

But I dunno, try adding those mask generators, and using the color corrector stuffs, I really have no idea, you could saturate the video/black and white it, then use the cookie cutter to highlight each individual bit which you want and add one of those midtones things? :S
I'm pretty sure there are ways of getting rid of everything except the reds, blues, etc, dunno about black and white or anything, shall have a look when I come back... cba opening vegas.
