Things To Blur Out

ok so I need to know what needs to be blur'ed out in a DVD that wants to get Distro?

things filmed in town always get the shops in the background with the front signs showing. is that advertising? do they need to be blured out? as I know in the PE DVD Elliot blur'ed them out

also images that arnt to do with the production? I know its moody but he had his editor blur posters that was in peoples houses (dan-gs section) logos on bins (gmc) ect.

when does a face need to be blured out and when is it ok to show it in full? no forms was signed by anyone in the dvd.

what retardz dvd? there isnt going to be one. this is just for the hemel skates dvd as its filmed in towns n stuff

I don't know man, because most big skate videos blur nothing and they get sold to tons of people.

I allways thought that as it goes for the shop names and such-like that would be personall preference as to whether to blur them, basically you are giving those shops free advertising via your production

again posters, logos and and shit like that go into the same catagory (from what I believe)

I read once before that faces are ok, as long as they are not in the main centre of the cameras viewpoint, say for instance a guy is in the background and one of your group were in the foreground thats fine, but if for instance the guy was in the foreground you need his permission to have his face there, but the you could most probably get away with releasing a dvd without their faces blurred out, if they happen to see the dvd and they notice it features their likeness you can mearly tweak and re-release the dvd

If it isnt clearly a part of the shot, like subject of candid camera or interview you dont have to worry about them.

Yeah, as long as they arent part of the main activity on the footage.

im talking about people who iv filmed doing something or had a prank played on them, or came and started talking to us while the camera was rolling. footage of outsiders.

Im not sure, but if the camera is clearly filmin in view of them, and they come up too you ....you don't have to blur them. If the person is doing something illegal and 'newsworthy' you can film them, not sure if you can put it in a dvd though. And as for shops, I think you have to blur them out? I mean, shops might not want their brand name associated with the kinda activity or dvd that you are looking to publish.

Like I said, im not 100% this is only me trying to recall what I've read up and heard about in the past.

yeah thats funny, cause it only makes you even more confused. If you got a shit load of pranks and etc. blurring everyones gonna take away from the excitement of the video, which licks balls.

fawk afte rlike a half hour of googling, you think you would find somethign on the legal rights and laws of distributing your own dvd, BUT NO not a damn thing.

basicly no one can really just tell u what u can or cant censor. and the reason its so grey, is becuase this isnt law. its all civil shit.
but you got no one to sign anything in like 6 years of filming? anyone could sue you if they didnt sign off on it. id especially get members to sign off. those are the only people that could ruin the whole project.

if I were u id get as many waivers signed as possible. then id look at the footage of the people that didnt, ask myself if they would get pissed at all and if I think so id bar our thier eye region. id leave all the shop signs but blur any numbers/addresses, id censor the posters cuz chances are its all jackass/dirty sanchez crap, not becuase of legal shit but becuase its gay.

if u just want to please the distro, I wouldnt censor shit and send them the movie and then censor whatever they want after.

haha, np. theres also alot of ways u can use footage but its tricky. also remember ive never released a film or had any real experience, I just know what ive read and been told from people who have. also u.k. laws may be different.

newsworthy stuff, like the giant hemel fire you could use indefinatly and not censor people.
people breaking the law, fights, vandals, if its illegal u dont need permission.
public figures, like the police or any gov. empoyee, cant do anything. same with famous people.
other countrys like mexico have no laws on filmin stuff so everyone,everywhere is free game.
you can show children without problems.

also for people to sue they have to have a reason you owe them money. some dude walking in the background cant do shit. and niether can someone in a large group of people.

remember im not a professional. use this more as a guide. but if I were u webby, id just send the film to the distro's and censor what they want you too after the fact.

I spend alot of time thinking and worring about this. Alot of my stuff I only blur myself. I have no clear answer but at least ask yourself, If I were that person, would I want to sue? Iv concluded that chances are slim that the pranked person will see the footage unless it becomes "viral". Girls Gone Wild has been sued many times but he never was found guilty.

Besides, I think the bars over the eyes look cool in After Effects. Never learned how to blur. Image file not present in the recovered backup
