QUOTE
CBS4 News) SAN DIEGO, CA An investigative reporter for a Fox station in San Diego California ended up in the hospital after being attacked on the job by the same people he was investigating.

According to the Fox station, investigative journalist John Mattes is an attorney and reporter known for his tenacity in tracking down cases of deception and consumer fraud.

It was one such story John was working on when he was viciously attacked by a man who had been making threats for weeks. Police say the attacker is Sam Suleiman and his wife Rosa.

The dramatic footage shows the woman verbally attacking Mattes and his cameraman. She even splashed water on the camera and then threw the water bottle.

Then her husband, Sam Suleiman, is seen walking up to Mattes and brutally beating him. Another man jumped in the melee to try and help.

The attack left Mattes bloodied, bruised and in an emergency room.

Police arrested the couple for their roles in the attack.

The couple was under investigation for identity theft.

That's lame. (Not the video, that was good) It's lame that this asshole reporter was coming on to their property and in to their personal lives all so his crappy local news show can get a few ratings. Like the story of those two's money problem was really important for San Diego to know about. It was just them trying to make the family (Notably Hispanic) look like dirt. And they did a good job of doing that themselves. And in the end, after the newscrew infringes on the family's rights and property, it's the family that gets in trouble. Lame, I would've done the same thing.

EDIT- She's Hispanic, he's Middle Eastern of a sorts I'd say

They should've nicely just told them to leave. This just made them look like a couple of morons (which they probably are).

Agreed, but I guess this reporter's "known for his tenacity" I have the feeling that wouldn't work. Plus the guy had been threatening the reporter for weeks to either not do the story or get his pathetic ass kicked. I guess he didn't listen too well.
