Apparently all over the papers today it was told that Steve Irwins dying wish was to have his death broadcast on TV. Can anyone confirm this because its not online yet if this is the case.
Would they seriously do this?
He always said the camera should keep rolling even if he was being chewed slowly to death..
05 September 2006, 17:21 UTC#2
I'd pay money to see it.
05 September 2006, 17:34 UTC#3
Yer the family want it be released, well apparently. I dunno if they are going to let it though. The gifs that will come out of it will be amazing.
05 September 2006, 17:39 UTC#4
wow, thats some shit. I hope to see this.
05 September 2006, 17:41 UTC#5
Not to sound like a pussy, but I've always thought stingray would be the worst way to go.
I'd like to see if it's true
05 September 2006, 18:05 UTC#6
I'm pretty positive its going to be shown on TV. If not theres a fair chance it would leak onto the internet over time.
05 September 2006, 18:07 UTC#7
I'm sure if they get permission from his family I don't see why not, if it was his wish.
Depends how graphic it is I guess, for TV anyways, I remember on the Discovery Channel they have shown sharks biting people before, big bites liiiike... :S
05 September 2006, 18:48 UTC#8
Yeah his wife asked for it to be shown, thats all I know.
Man I loved that guy, shame he died really.
At least he died doing what he done best, messed with animals.
05 September 2006, 18:52 UTC#9
I was thinking about this yesterday, it's just something that has to be seen.
05 September 2006, 18:53 UTC#10
Like Owen Harts death.

05 September 2006, 19:16 UTC#11
I want to see this, out of curiosity. I'm wondering how the hell it happened.

The cameraman made a statement.
He was swimming over the top of the ray and it brought its tail up in self defense. Stabbed him through the heart. He pulled the tail out, and died.
05 September 2006, 19:44 UTC#16
Immagine if he died instantly and this fucking sting ray had steve Iriwin's corpse on it for like. That'd bring more street cred than any meer asbo

Damn, that's pretty shitty. He was a tough guy though, I doubt he even said more than "ow".

it might be sick but yes I wanna see this! we all do.. im curious as fuck..
05 September 2006, 21:36 UTC#19
The stingray didnt stab him through the hear..t it stabbed him in the chest.. the barb isnt sharp enough nor long enough to enter all the way to his heart... the toxins killed him.. had he been stung in the leg his body would have had time to break the toxins down and he would have only felt rough for a while and had a nasty wound.. but it hit him close to the heart so it was basically instant cardiac arrest
05 September 2006, 21:51 UTC#20
Damn, it's almost like he knew that he would die while filming with dangerous animals.
05 September 2006, 21:54 UTC#21
The toxins cant kill, he was killed by the tearing of flesh on the serated edge of the barb when he pulled it out.
Thats why StingRays aren't dangerous because the toxins cant kill.
05 September 2006, 21:55 UTC#22
I'm sure the official police/coroners report will be on the net eventually... as will the footage, maybe in a few years.

Stop acting like you've studied stingray's for the past twenty years of your life. It stabbed him through the heart.
I heard today on the radio a statement from one of his cameramen saying that Steve had always said that if he died from any sort of attack by an animal, he would want it shown.
05 September 2006, 22:02 UTC#24
The venom apparatus or "sting" of a stingray is a spine or modified dermal denticle (the scales covering sharks and stingrays) with two ventral grooves filled with venom-producing tissue. The venom apparatus is surrounded by a cell-rich covering or sheath that also may produce lesser amounts of venom. The venom itself is a largely protein-based toxin that causes great pain in mammals and may also alter heart rate and respiration.
Hence what I said.. cardiac arrest.. ... his body didnt have time to break down the toxins.. so at full force it sped up his heart rate to an extensive amount .. aka cardiac arrest...
Shaun.. lick my scrotum

The cameraman said there was little/no blood. So I dont think it was that.

The man was killed by one, they sound pretty dangerous to me.

Nah man, they really aren't, I've pet them before. They had trimmed stingers though.
