Are we any further on with this?? Gman?

I remember the majority of HGF voting for them, what happened?
Basically, Rep Points (reputation points) will be like a little bar under your name, you can get repped by any member of the forum for doing anything.... mainly contributing/helping members I suppose.

I dunno, it's always something I've wanted too see, hopefully it will get more members posting, contributing and helping out the whole forum....

So yeah, does anyone else wanna see them still?

Not bothered, but I guess it'd be a good idea to inflate or deflate peoples egos.

Same reason I always put forward: anyone who deserves rep points is already recognized by the forum community. What use is having people like Made and Adem going round with loads of rep points when we know they're good guys anyway?

I say let the members' actions speak for themselves.

I've seen it before in the other forums I go to...

Voted no. Unnecessary feature. People who spend time on these forums know who are to be respected and who are not.

It's not about respect and levels, I've also seen it on other forums.... it works wonders.... people contribute and help each other alot more.

I mean, I'm sure for the first few weeks people will be abusing it, like say asking for rep but you know.

Anyways, I dont see any harm if it helps the whole forum and the members, which it will, if not, it can be removed, right?
It's not like people have a right and HAVE to help others more and stuff, it's just encouragement and I'm sure after a few months of using it we can think of better ways to make it work.

Etc, but whatever, dont hate me I just thought it was a good idea.

Why dont we just contribute more? And save the time?

Naw, I don't like the idea personally.

No offense Baz, but I don't see how it'll encourage people to contribute more. I doubt that the promise of some quantifiable digital "respect" will push people to become better members.

And what if you get negative rep? Doesn't that encourage animosity and arguments among members? Rep points set off a chain: one person reps badly, so others do so out of principle.

Likewise, if you deal out positive rep, many people will rep back as a thankyou. Pretty soon we've got everyone in one extreme or the other, and we realize that everyone is exactly the same person as they were before the rep points came in.

It's nothing personal Baz, I'm just saying why I think we're fine without it.

I'm all for discussion, but why does everything have to lead into a big debate?

Everyone who has said something is predicting what people might do, how it will change things..... people said arguments and things will arise when the VIP was created, I know for the first few weeks some members where upset about it, but now where adding more and more members as the whole VIP members see fit, if they have noticed them helping out and whatnot.
With the rep points that will be easier to decide, it's not like ok; these guys are at the top, these guys dont have so much rep and these have none at all so we won't bother with them, each forum who has this feature uses it for a different purpose.... doesn't mean it will work here, if not it can be removed.

Blah blah, I'm just rambling on but anyways it's a harmless feature really but whatever, I dont wanna make it seem like I'm doing it just get people to do things.
