The site I get my hosting through has a forum, and the forum has a shop. Its pretty fun really. It has items like:
Change username
Glowing Name
Double Size of Signature (limit)
Add an emoticon (upload it via ftp)
Pin a Topic
Post a message in the calander
Increase Post Count
buy password to the adult section of the forum
etc.
You earn "eZillions" by posting - you get a certain amount for posts, and another certain amount for making new threads. They also dish them out for quizes/etc. too.
I think its pretty fun - not sure how often it would be used here - but just an idea to kick around.
It's also an Invision Power Board - a lower version too - so I assume its something that could be implemented.
btw - for big ticket items, they also allow you to buy them via paypal (investment opportunity maybe??)

this has been mentioned a bunch of times, like a rep system. but the pleas never get answered

05 August 2006, 02:46 UTC#3
looks tacky and people post for the wrong reasons.
05 August 2006, 02:46 UTC#4
Thats why ya gotta mention that they can make money by having people buy the credits/eZillions/whatever.

05 August 2006, 02:48 UTC#5
well, with the ones we want, you can only buy stuff for rep points, which people give, not by having a big post count.
05 August 2006, 03:02 UTC#6
sounds good but will still make the forum tacky, but whatever, aint my forum
05 August 2006, 03:58 UTC#7
I'm on another board with rep - doesn't have all the fancy stuff listed above - but newbies get to see who not to screw with right away.
05 August 2006, 04:16 UTC#8
im down for rep points but buying flashy names and dimond incrusted dildos isnt my thing
05 August 2006, 04:18 UTC#9
doesn't all have to be flashy - I tried to omit a lot of that stuff - since I agree it wouldn't really fit in at a place like this. Just might gay it up a bit.
But there could be some cool things - for instance, if you had to buy a password to the adult forum, etc. make it a prestige thing - like the VIP section.

LMAO!

Yeah, the rep points where sooooo close to being added, thats the stuff we need like others said.
I guess rewards for getting rep wouldn't be too bad, but I don't really like the idea of buying stuff exactly....
We where also talking about a shop for group merch, DVD's and stuff, that would be cool.
05 August 2006, 09:05 UTC#14
Sounds like a cheap gimmick to me.
05 August 2006, 10:19 UTC#15
do we have a concert sub-forum?? if not we really should do!!1
it could have concert reviews and updates and I just think it would be a good topic but that is just me I don't know who else would be down with it,
I didn't make a thread cause I'm shite at makeing them and all I get is abuse cause there so badly done,
oh yeah on the subject of the thread I like the rep points idea.

What do you mean by "concert?" as in live music?? :S
By the sound of it, it sounds like some sort of page for a constant reviews updates and other things regarding HG??
If so it's been suggested a million times before, I know ALOT of people like the idea too.

you seriously think this place needs to be any gayer? honestly its practically HornyGayForums already.
05 August 2006, 16:36 UTC#19
omg what is it about today and classic sayings!, thats going in the quote book!
05 August 2006, 16:40 UTC#20
you should to a thread with all the classic quotes and update it constantly
05 August 2006, 16:41 UTC#21
hahaha well I might just do that when I get back from newquay, might even take the quote book down with me.... and get some classics

Well, yeah - but only if they make us pay for them. But thats where it looks like a good deal to the administrators. Give the community something fun to play with, and in return - they get a few bucks "donation" here and there.
Steve - I thought you were a newbie there for a minute - I was about to explain how this thread wasn't for ALL suggestions.
06 August 2006, 01:32 UTC#23
There should be a merch section, where groups sell DVDs, t-shirt, stickers, etc.
06 August 2006, 01:35 UTC#24
^ that would be a good idea - but probably a pain in the butt to organize.

wow.... 16 hours since your last remark to think that one up.. I'm impressed.
06 August 2006, 03:00 UTC#27
Nah, it wouldn't be too hard, each trusted group could manage their own if gman setup a script.

True, didn't think of that.
