Boom mic pole

I don't see the point in spending money (plus I dont have any atm anyway) for a boom mic pole when I could just use something, just wondering if anyone had any ideas of what to use as one and the best stance for it?
I want to use it for a comedy horror film im planning.

lol yeh I guessed that but like what kinda pole....? I dont really have any poles, and the ones I do have stuff on the end that I clean the floor with lol

whats the best way to stand with it to get the best sound, anyone?

We made one once out of an extendable paint roller pole.

How did you fix the mic to the end? did you tape it on or..?

Drilled a screw into it and attached a microphone base to it.

Use a PVC pipe.. you can slip your mic cord through the middle and hang the mic as far down as you want. It's about as lite and easy to use as you can get.

Last time I used a boom mic (for a school thing) I just used a long broom handle and duct taped the mic to it.

I will prolly never use a boom mic agian. I find them to be pointless for what the shit I film.
but yeah just any stick or pole that can hold up the wieght of the mic and not flop around would work fine.

Thanks guys, I think I'll use either the paint roller idea or the PVC pipe, if all else fails I will hunt out an old broom. lol
