Well...RAS was never really well known or popular, but most of you on this forum know us I suppose. We are still working on our DVD, release date still not sure of, but filming will probably stop. There are several factors that have contributed to this, first one of our best friends moved away a few weeks ago, he wasn't a huge part of RAS though, so it didn't effect us all that much. Several other members have moved in the past months including tyler and cody (mullet boy), but again, they didn't do that much anyway. What really impacted us was an even that occured two nights ago, on Monday, January 3.
Micheal, Corey, and Dustin all came in to my house earlier that morning, excited with claims of all of the vandalism they had just done to some local buildings that they believed to be vacant. Of course none of it was on film, because I own all of the camera equipment that we use. But nonetheless, their stories of shredding couches, breaking windows, smashing walls, and basically destorying everything they could find, were amusing. Seeing as this is an activity that we regularly take part in, they never figured they'd be caught.
Unfortunately, later that day, they returned to my house, this time frightened and anxious. They had learned that the two homes and one hotel that they'd broken into and vandalised had actually still been in use and the occupants just weren't home. But eventually they calmed down and we went out for a walk along the railroad tracks near my house. As we came back from our walk, a frantic and rattled Micheal's mother ordered him to the car and sped off. I rushed home and called his house, phone was busy. I then made a call to Corey's house, whereupon I learned that he had been taken into police custody and was at the station being questioned.
I then called Dustin's house, his grandmother answered and shouted "IS THIS THE POLICE??!!." I replied no and she handed the phone over to Dustin. He sounded really scared, he told me that the police had already came to his house once and that they were coming back for him, then he had to go. At this point I didn't really know what to do, so I called the rest of the crew and told them the bad news, little did I know, more was soon to come.
The next morning as I awoke, I got a phone call from Jon ( one of the guys who's sorta in the crew, but is never around). He sounded frantic, he said "They've got mikey man!, they got everyone!!." "They came to their houses and took Corey, Mikey, Dustin, and Matthew!." I was shocked by this, I told him I had to go and hung up. I immediately called Corey's house, his sister picked up. Almost in tears she said, "They took them all, they're all gone, and they say they've got 3 felony charges!!"
That was the last thing I heard about it yesterday, but earlier this afternoon I talked to Micheal's mom. She told me that they had went to court the day before and all the kids were brought out in shackles (which I found rediculous) and were told that they were to be held in the Juvenile detention center in Paducha until the 24th when their actual trial would occur.
As of right now, things look dim, if convicted as juveniels they will serve 45 days in the detention center, if as adults, they could serve 5 years or more as I am told. Due to theses circumstances, we may not see our friends again for a long time, therefore, I think that it is clear as to why we can't continue filming, at least not for awhile until we see how things turn out. Anyway, I will scan the newspaper clippings, and if possible, I will tape the trial if anyone wishes to see it.
