A purchase that will immediately make you "unemployable," in the eyes of every respectable organization and business across the country.

Meh, I know of a lot of "professionals" who will decide whether they are going to hire you based on looks alone.

Unusual body ornaments are usually immediate mental rejections. But that's only if they're noticed. And if you care enough, you'll do your part to hide 'em.

then youve gotta ask yourself whether you feel comfortable working for someone thats gonna be fickle to not trust you to look how they want you to. I suppose its different per industry, but its a much better relationship working for a company that judges you on your skill and personality rather than the fact youve got a piercing.

That's because in the child porn industry the "professionals" know you can't have anything which will identify you in the videos in the event of a raid.

Yup, I've never been turned down for a job based on my piercings. Like k said, if someone doesn't want to hire me because of my appearance they can fuck offffffffffff.

Definitely agree with Kane on the hiring based on skills and talents being the best way to do things.

And, Mike, you're right to tell 'em to fuck off if they deny you based on appearance. But, in some industries (definitely not all) people just won't give you the time of day if you have tattoos, unusual piercings, etc. They might let you interview, but you're fighting an uphill battle from the beginning.

If you're someone who lives a lifestyle that doesn't reflect the values and ideals of the business you're interviewing for, you're handicapping yourself. That's all I mean, I guess. I couldn't show up to my job at the nursing home or at the YMCA with piercings and tattoos. But, I could do so if I was working at a nightclub or piercing/tattoo parlor.

was I the only kid whose mum would only buy me cheap hi-tech football boots (back when they were well shit) because I was so bollocks at football?

My football boots didn't even have a label. They were like a tenner from Asda.

I remember my proudest moment in a football game was trying to help out the goalie by picking up the ball and bringing it to him so he could give it a good kick. I got done for the handball and the other team got a penalty, which they proceded to score and with it, win the match.

I love sports.

Got to agree, and despite having piercings myself, if I'm doing work with someone new or am on a shoot with someone, Ill often make first judgments based on their appearance, as do most reputable companies, who have clauses in employment contracts that can defend their decision to make you take out body jewelery, when working for them.
