It's an awesome game, but it's only got a lifespan of one playthrough, I reckon. Reminded me a lot of RE4, since the control scheme is basically identical; and the storyline's solid as well. I guess for £17 I'd recommend it.

The demo hardly showed off what made the game for me. I mean, all you got to do was play around the the dismemberment mechanics, but the essence of the game isn't just about combat. The atmosphere is incredible, it's one of maybe three or four games that genuinely scared me.
Ammo and medicine is really well balanced so you have just enough to survive if you fight every enemy, but don't miss too much (so you don't have to run away from everything just to save your supplies). Good storyline with a twist at the end, and interesting morally grey characters as well. I'll definitely get the sequel if it gets made.

that does make it sound better, if I can borrow it from someone ill play it, is the story all sci-fi space driven because I cant stand that type of stuff.

Quite a lot of the objectives revolve around stuff like "activate the engines" or "repair the life support system in sector 3B" or whatever, but the horror aspect of the zombie-alien things are the real focus of the game.

thats not so bad then, but I do like killing things so low ammo isnt a stronge point, any cheats just so its more fun than frustrating? I dont care about achievements.

I actually owned a grand total of one tape, which was a bootleg copy of the Marshall Mathers LP that Jamie Dinler made for me about a million years ago.
I stand by what I said, I played Tony Hawk to death and thought it was absolutely orgasmic at the time: simple controls, PUNK RAWK SOUNDTRACK \m/, didn't take itself completely seriously. Then along comes Skate and it's something that's the same genre, but going about it a completely different way. I can appreciate that a lot of people prefer that new direction, but I couldn't get into it. Simple as.

Well, collecting for football sticker books was probably my happiest memory as a precocious 7 year-old...but now you've ruined that for me as well.

I was too lazy to comment earlier, but I'm with you on your crusade. I'm more into the arcade style of video gaming that THPS represented, not into the wow look at me being all so realistic style of Skate.
