No matter what others say, I think that The Amityville Horror with Ry Reynolds is one of the better remakes made. Dead Silence is okay but too much of that modern horror thing in it where they just try to scare people with cheap thrills

but alot changed since the original, and wasnt the original based on true events? which killed the remake since they changed the story alot. but yeah was a good watch.

The "original events" were mostly if not entirely fabricated by a writer who was fascinated by the murder that went down.

I saw a few specials that went over the events, only after the book and movie came out did the house become famous for being haunted.

Surely that's like saying "only after Brad Pitt was in a movie did he get famous"? What do you expect, lol.

The book and movie got the public interested in the events; regardless of whether or not there was all ghosts and shit.

Yeah it's based on true events to the extent that there was a guy who killed his family in the house where the Lutz's moved into and he claimed that voices told him to do that. Then the Lutz along with some author wrote the book of their 30 days in the house which sold like a motherfucker, and then after a few years they admitted that it was all made up. But still it remains one of the top "haunted" houses in the US.


I couldn't agree with you more. I can usually see it in the trailer if it's going to be good or not, because 95% of Hollywood horror movies unveil all the "scary" parts in the trailer and nothing remains to be seen in the movie itself. AND the trailer ALWAYS ends with some kind of a fast ½ second jumper right after the credit screen comes up at the end. They also rely solely on special effects and cheap thrills and everything usually looks too perfect unlike in 70's, 80's and some early 90's horror movies.

And I admit I described Amityville Horror to some extent here but it was among the first horror movies to start this most recent horror trend so it gets some apologies for that and I think it was well done and there's an evil atmosphere throughout the movie unlike most modern horror movies that scare with a few cheap thrills or redundant gore.
