I do. Actually Intel cuts prices also because The Pentium 4 and Pentium D line (Netburst archtiecture) is going to be discontinued, and they want to empty their stocks. The new Intel Core Duo 2 is coming up, and it is very good as far as I know. A $300 chip which runs on 2.4 GHz can be overclocked to 4 GHz (using water cooling), and it beats a $1000 AMD chip in every aspect.

4GHz is pretty impressive, although if I paid $300 I probably wouldn't risk overclocking it

Competition is good however, AMD and Intel seem to pushing new architectures / faster speeds more than ever.

netburst was the last member of the GHz race. They couldn't take it further. Over 3 GHz the chips run very hot, cooling becomes a big problem. So they decided to choose another way. They bundle 2 later 4 later 8 processors in 1 chip, each running at around 2 GHz, and the actual processing power will be roughly 2-4-8 times of 1 processor's. Intel and AMD both goes that way.

My PC is several years old, a 2.4 GHz P4, but I am very satisfied with it. I won't replace it in the near future. There is no point at the moment.

Same here, my processor doesn't even have HTT. Whilst people are spending thousands on the latest motherboards, processors I don't see the point. An old P4 2.4GHz runs pretty much everything most PC users need. And in 3 years hardware is considered dated anyway, I have so many better things to spend the cash on.
