Saw this a while back, seems like complete bullshit.

What'd you think gman?

I definately don't believe in time travel, neither do I believe in the theory that time, and gravity have any relation to each other.

The most popular theory is if you went faster than the speed of light, you'd go back in time is bullshit. The faster you go, the quicker you get to a destination, period.

The thing with time travel theories is that we're trying to work out something we know nothing about, using facts we know nothing about.

For example, how can theories about going faster than the speed of light being tested if nothing can reach those speeds? Einstein said that sub-light travel would result in infinite mass, essentially destroying whatever you're moving.

However, there have been some theories about using quantum mechanics and time as a fourth dimension. HG Wells came up with the idea of time being the fourth dimension in his book The Time Machine. He put forth that no matter an object's height, width and breadth, if it lasts for zero units of time then it does not truly exist. An object must possess a dimension of time in order to exist in our universe.

Therefore, if we could somehow devise a way of travelling along the lines of the fourth dimension, we would essentially be travelling through time. But that could be a while off yet (see first paragraph).

In case you hadn't noticed, I find this a bit interesting. I have a couple of books on the possibility of time travel if we take Einstein's laws to be true.

I've spent ages reading through the website in its entirety, and there's some fucking interesting stuff.

The time traveller, John Titor, tells people what the world will be like in the next 15 years. Most notably, he says that world conflicts after 2004 will escalate, leading to American civil war in 2015.

In one post, he writes: "Are you really surprised to find out that Iraq has nukes now or is that just BS to whip everyone up into accepting the next war?"

Nothing special, you may think, except this post was made in February 2001, seven months before the attack on the World Trade Center and almost two years before investigations in Iraq were carried out to find WMDs.

In another February 2001 post, he answered two questions (the questions are in brackets):

((Does the civil war start in such a way that with this foreknowledge those willing will have time to remove themselves to safer locations.))
Yes. You will be forced to ask yourself how many civil rights you will give up to feel safe.

((Will you readily be able to identify the enemy.))
They will be the ones arresting and holding prople without due process.

Sends a fucking chill up my spine just writing this tbh. The connotations if this man is for real are huge. I'm definitely gonna look into this more.

The fourth dimension is purely hypothetical, how do we know it exists? As for the "sub light travel destroying everything in its path" theory, do we know this? Has anyone ever analysed if light destroyes anything in it's path? As far as we are aware, it doesn't. Sure light may not have "physical" properties, but as we can't see an atom and never will, it's just another vague speculation.

I just can't see, logistically how you can travel to a moment that doesn't exist. Does time exist? Or is it purely a made up thing to bring order and structure humans crave into our lives. Is time merely nothing more than a human creation?

Are these theories created in such a complex manner because the creators knew we'd never be able to disprove these theories?

Definately interesting, however could the individual whom wrote it have been in or be friends with a government agency worker whom had intelligence before any enactments?

Who knows, and I don't believe anyone will ever know. Most of science is nothing more than speculation.

read about this guy when he first sprang up on the net, old as hell.... It is def. interesting but untill this 2015 civil war happens I don't really think it's real.

When was this site created? I can't find it.

He said it wouldn't be apparent until later, but they have already taken away many of our rights.

It's kinda weird, a lot of coincidences, but I think it's just a guy trying to see how convincing his theories can be.

where was all this posted at? and how can it be proved that it wasn't just totally reworded to make us gullable people fall head over heels for it? to me it sounds like this dude watched too many futuristic movies, like 12 monkeys and fifth element.

The fourth dimension is purely hypothetical, how do we know it exists?

Agreed. Purely hypothetical, along with 99% of time travel theories. But it works as a possibility.

Sure light may not have "physical" properties, but as we can't see an atom and never will, it's just another vague speculation.

Einstein's theory of relativity states that as an object gains speed, it increases in mass. Since the speed of light (299,792,458 m/s if we're being specific) is the fastest speed that anything can travel in our natural universe, it stands to reason that anything above the fastest speed possible must equal infinity.
Einstein is not saying that faster than light travel is possible, merely that were such speeds conceivably possible, it would be impossible to be able to sustain an object under current scientific laws.

QUOTE(gman @ Jun 11 2006, 07:19 PM)

I just can't see, logistically how you can travel to a moment that doesn't exist.

200 years ago, people couldn't see logistically a way into outer space.
500 years ago, people couldn't see logistically a way to build flying machines.
1,000 years ago, people couldn't see logistically a way to circumnavigate the globe.

I don't deny that this man's story is not without flaws. It is by all means not conclusive. But time travel is not an impossibility if you ask me. And the information that this man seemed to know months before our political timeline caught up with it is at the very least completely fascinating.

Ive always been intrigued by the theories of what one could do with time travel as opposed to how we can actually do it.

We here at No Mercy have had discussions such as:
If you were to go back, and murder your father before conception, what would occur?

My theory was that since this would negate you existance, you would not be able to go back in time to commit the murder, so he would live, and have you, and then you can kill him......this would become a vicious cycle, and therefore, break the flow of things.

Trizz belived that this would cause a new timeline to begin, a world where your father was murdered by an unknown assailant, and you would never exist.

Another aspect of this issue is what if you were to kill him after you were concived? Would you change personality and social status wise? What if your mother remarries to a rich man? Would you become a snob because of your upbringing? Or would you be the only one unchanged? Or would it create two sepeate people, the snobby you and the normal you?

I could easily talk for hours on this subject.

jeez if I could go back in time I would do like five things, get rich, meet jesus, see a dinosaur, see the universe being created(by whatever the fuck happened) and kick my own ass.

I would go back and show various filmakers and actors, (vincent price, ed wood, Alfred Hitchcock., Various movies that we can do today, such as jurassic park, matrix reloaded, terminator 2. Then see if they like it, or if they are pissed off because of how story has taken a backseat to special effects.

I would also go to the 50's and put on some crazy ass wrestling matches for the WWWF
