Obviously this is drawing quite a bit of controversy, but I'm kind of split on how I feel. On one hand I think its sick and messed up they video taped these peoples last moments and didn't do much to stop them. I mean they did call the cops when someone climbed up on the rail but they didn't do anything else and the reason they where filming was to catch people killing them selves, they wouldn't have much of a movie if they didn't.

On the other hand I really want to see it, if the movie was done right I think it could help people understand depression and suicide. It seems a lot of people don't get it, when ever someone kills them self you get comments like, "they took the cowards way out." I really do think if it was made right it could help more then hurt.

Anyway, what do you think?

I wanna see this, and I dont see a problem with it.
the people that killed themselves deserve to have their last moments be seen. they didnt overdose in the comfort of their own home. they went out and made a spectacle of it.

my sympathy for the families though. but they dont have to watch the movie.

but steel has to be the most ruthless filmmaker ever. its one thing just to film the jumpers, but he want and interviewed family members and didnt say anything about having the suicide on tape. and he lied to get a permit to film the bridge , and he lied to the film festival people.
I kinda hate him for that, but I find it kind of admirable he went that far.

I can see how most people on here would "enjoy" watching a film where people hurdle themselves off of great heights, and I really should say " be interested". Myself included, but to me it just seems like the documentary would give them just alittle more incentive to go through with it, as for it saying they are not getting involved well it is obvious that they are on the side for them to jump, and the people know that. To me it just seems that they didn't do enough to try and help them not get to that point where they ended there life.

I want to see this.

Hmmh, interesting, but cruel. I probs warez it. dotn want to support that kind of activity (or actually in this case unactivity (in preventing those suicides)). Thats also the reason why I havent bougth indewcline etc, tehy do stuff taht I dotn approve, like kicking that mexicans ass

and if u read the article, they did prevent 5 possible suicides and the film already brought attention to a jumper fence proposal, so people cant kelf off the bridge anymore.

Dunno what that kelf is, but if they could prevent five, they could have prevented even more (I didnt read the article too intensively, I have add Image file not present in the recovered backup ). And its cool that they prevented the deaths and that they brough attention to that fence proposal, but I bet they could ahve done it in otherway too.

and if they did it another way there wouldnt be this ingenious movie.

Yeah, there wouldnt be this movie, but even though its interesting movie I think its wrong. If they would have done anything they can, like phoned police on the wpot or something I could approved the filming, otherwise not.

And like that dude in the article says: Showing sucides on big screen can glorify the subject and in that way make people do it more easily.

If someone wants to kill themselfs I think it's there right to do so, I wouldn't see the movie though sounds boring to me.

Thats one view to it too... but I bet if one of your closest friends or relatives would decided to do a suicide you would be all cheery and "Go for eeet, we luuv cha!!1!"

he sould have gave the money he made to the familes from the people who leaped and stuff....it's not his fault, he just happend to be there with a camera...it's not his job to help the people who leaped, where the cops and security on that one? but I wouldn't know, I would deffently have to see this movie for sure, not only dose it look good, but I wanna see how he can put together a year's of footy together...tha must be a pain in the dick

I think they could have saved all of them, who jumped. But it wasn't their goal. Their goal was to film how they do it. So I think it's wrong. How was it done? They waited for weeks for possible suiciders to walk in front of the camera? Or they looked for them, possibly paid them?

Yeah, depression is quite dangerous. You should all take it seriously. If you have someone who is often depressed, take care of them, don't leave them alone, even if it is boring to sit in a room watching someone doing nothing. Talk to them. Depression usually passes if one has something to do, and likes to do it.

I definitely would not want to shoot this film. just producing and directing it alone would make you want to probably kill yourself.

I was majorly depressed about 4 years ago at one point and if it wasn't for the fact that I had family, I was so bummed out I would have done just about anything. luckily things changed after about 2 months. it was a horrible experience but I never hurt myself or anything like that but I know what depression feels like.

its not much fun.

+ if you had to edit 10,000 hours of footage, that would fucken suck. my editors think it's too much when I bring them 50 hours of footage for 1 production.
