Not yet, will do once MS' servers aint so busy.

So, are there like any programmes out which are compatiable with the beta yet? haha.
As I wan't to be able to do stuff, I've never installed a new windows.... always had a new computer by the time a newer version is out.

I believe Vista has been engineered so most XP applications are compatible.

Downloaded it overnight, going to install it this morning.

Yeah, installed it. Everything worked pretty well but had a lot of driver issues, sound wasnt working properly, my nvidia card didnt install properly. It had some conflicts with premiere and the aero gfx interface didnt run that smoothly (or sucked up a lot of power).

Ive got a brand new notebook, 1.83 dual core with a nvidia 7900gs card and 1gb of ram. I thought it would be able to handle it but a lot of people are complaining.

Swapped back to xp pro and its never run faster.

Its worth the look though. Would love to get it pre-installed on a machine that can run it properly.

This may be the only OS that I may actually purchase. If I did it would come with a PC I bought though. :p

I'm definately purchasing Vista, however I'll probably wait 6 months to a year for all the bugs to be stamped out and compatibility issues to be fixed.

It's a shame the download is so big, otherwise I'd definately sample Vista.

I don't want vista. I bought XP home, just to have a windows to play games on, otherwise I use linux on my home PC.

If I would have an empty PC, which was able to handle it, I would look at the beta. But I don't have one. Surely my second PC (800 Mhz, 256 MByte RAM) can't handle it.

I won't buy it, or use it at home. I don't want to make Bill Gates even richer.

There will be more than enough of it at work.

I'd definately use Linux, if I didn't use so many applications that required Windows to run. Sure, I can use WINE, but honestly my apps don't run nearly as well as in their native environment.

A dual boot system kinda seems pointless to me also, if I'm booting into an OS I like to stay in one OS and leave my PC on. I doubt it'll be long before the apps I need are ported to *nix however, then I can say bye to XP and hello to effective resource management, enhanced security and fine grain control over my system.

However, although seemingly very bloated...Vista does seem like it'll be a great product.
