I got my new camera!

hey guys,

A little while back I was having trouble deciding wether to buy a Sony HDR-FX1 or a Sony VX2100.

Well, a few days ago, I chose the VX2100 and recieved it today.

Even though it doesn't have the high definition capabilities of the FX1, it still puts out the same brilliant color, detail, and low light quality as the FX1 and I'm really impressed. I've used the VX2100 before I didn't have time to sit down and compare the differences until now.

Shooting in low light is beautiful too.. it definately makes shooting at night more fun! I'll have to put up some screen shots for you to show you the differences between this camera and my old one.

Anyway.. here's a tip, if your thinking about buying any one of these 2 cameras, keep in mind the only difference between the two is that the FX1 has HD (high definition), but today HD isn't used in many homes because most people don't have HD televisions.. so stick to the VX2100.. It's about $900 cheaper and just as nice.

I got mine new directly from www.sonystyle.com for about $3,200 (after taxes and extra 2 year warranty)

safety, I have a vx-2000 and its pretty much the same without a couple bells and whistles and I agree, its quality is fucking amazing, I would highly reccomend

Believe it or not, the old camera I was using for most of my videos, was only a $250 camera.. It was a Sony DCR-TRV350 (piece of crap), but it did me well over the last few years. That just proves that having an expencive camera doesn't make you well known.. your skills as an director, personality, and editor is what really counts in the long run.

So if you don't have a camera yet, don't be afraid to start with this.

By the way, did you by any chance go to any of my shows in Memphis, TN with Muck Sticky? I played at The New Daisy Theater not to long ago.

The vx2100 is great a camera, you made a good choice saftey.

And I actually prefer d8 cams before normal dv cam (leaving the pro cams out obviusly).

nice cam. I would of gotten that if I had the money, but I don't. Im satisfied with my dvc30. I just ordered me a new lens yesterday.

is the vx2000 is better than the panasonic dvc 30 Image file not present in the recovered backup

The Pan DVC30 (stock) weighs much less, has forward directed mic (for better sound in front of the camera), has a better zoom, and costs a lot less. It's also easier to learn and use.

The Sony VX2100 (stock) has a better picture (crisp with color), performes very well in low light, has a better ND filter system, and more professional look (or at least I think so).

Bottom line is, the 30 is better for automatic settings, so you don't have to worry about filters, shutter speed, or audio gain levels. The VX is better for manual operation, although the auto settings work just as well.

Remember, it's not how nice your camera is.. it's how well you use it

...the dvc30 audip pickup is shit compared to the vx2100. the daytime quality, the vx doesn't kick the dvc's ass completely, it just performs loads better in lowlight.

and the dvc30 has the option to have auto or manual settings.

VX2000 is almost exactly the same as VX2100, just older and none are new.

True, the only difference is better low light in the 2100.

Your really only paying the extra money for the low light in the VX, but really.. they are both really nice cameras. The average view may not be able to tell the difference unless they are compared side to side.
