This group offered to make us a much better website that I will still control, and they will set us up with non porn advertising that could make us some money.....

What exactly is your obligation in this deal? What is it that these guys get out of it? I'm confused

They take 40% - 20% of the ad revenue, depending on how much work they have to do.

If they have to update the site and maintain it, Then they get 40, however since Im doing that and all they are doing is makin the new site and maintaining the ads, then they get 20%

Good question.. sometimes companies do it for name recognition, even if you don't buy something.

Why? because a year down the road you may be looking for a product and when you see that name, you'll say to yourself.. "hey, I've heard of them from somewhere.. they must be good".

Why do you think people make "vote for me" signs?.. because when you get to the voting station, you may not know anything about the people.. so your next option is to vote for the name you've heard of.

You should definitely get a better web design. I'd say yes to this.

How many unique hits do you get per month? Giving a ballpark figure of what you're going to earn can be difficult unless you've analysed the amount of hits you get, your CTR rate, the interest those visitors have etc.

$1000 could buy me many many hits / clients from a rather large site, do you think a client would want to advertise on a site that isn't *THAT* well known in the grand scale of things?

There are a few more details that determine what people are prepared to pay to advertise on a site, but I don't have time to explain them now.

And yes, a new design is well in order.

chances are you wont be able to hold advertisers if you dont get a lot of traffic, nor make much money from other ads

Thats possible, however we draw a great number of people to the site daily, which is why the advertising group contacted us.

With additional promotion of the site that I will undertake, We should be fine.
