ok someone appartently downloaded this software on to my computer (except its not in the add/remove programs list) and every once in a while I get a pop up that I can only close with ctrl-alt-del. on this pop up theres a lady who says that my 3 day trail has expired and I am now legally obligated to pay for the services I agreed to when I installed the program. I ran my anitvirus and spyware, any suggestions to how to get rid of this shit?

Does it start when you start your computer? If so use spybot search and destroy's start up list. Find where the file is. BALETE that fucker.

It's probably adware....I'd still get System Mechanics Pro....awesome for your machine. Cleans everything up.

my norton antivirus needs to be updated. its not a legit copy. should I update on their site or will that screw me over. I really need to get rid of this virus.
22 May 2006, 23:47 UTC#14
what do you mean update? like a 2003 to a 2005? or just core files? if it's just core files, then you'll have no problem, go ahead and update them.
25 May 2006, 20:50 UTC#15
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcen...an.muvipaz.htmlthe updates I need are the virus definintions on this site. safe to download?
25 May 2006, 20:54 UTC#16
AVG, Nod32 and Norton won't get rid of adware you bunch of newbies. Anyone who reccomends Norton shouldn't be on the internet.
Like I said, get spyware search and destroy, then try and antivirus solution as I'm 100% sure it's adware.
You should already have an antivirus solution in place having said that.
25 May 2006, 22:45 UTC#17
well norton identified it as a torjan virus, but it can't deleted with the updates. still 100% sure?
