These are old school Moody productions, old, old, old.... from 2000 when I was in college taking tv production classes. This is completed productions of me directing a short script I wrote live in the studio and trust me if you think editing is hard, trying directing live between cameras, cueing music and titles, it is amazingly hard and you are literally editing live in the hot seat as your cameras film your talent. very hard

anyways, here's 2 college productions of me directing scripts I wrote while sitting in the hot seat.

I'm really proud of The Exception and I like how it turned out. These Two Candles is pretty cool as well but I write comedy much better now and keep in mind, these are college productions so I could write cursing into the scripts or any vulgarity.

if you watch these videos and you enjoy them, please leave some nice feedback. That would be appreciated.

I watched three seconds of the candles one. Cheesiest opener ever.

Is this serious man? It looks like it was filmed in the 60s.

lol, it was filmed in a college production class 6 years ago. you try to put something like this together in a studio. outside of cable access or a college studio something like this would cost thousands of dollars just to get in the studio, let alone the equipment which was about a half-million dollar set up at least. it was a a really cool studio.

it might look old though because that is a 3rd generation tape and it is old but this is the best quality I could dig up + it is hugely compressed from the internet, a 1.4 gb file into a 5 mb file....

its the only tapes I had remaining that I could find.

watch it and enjoy it.

The exception sucked.

Why did it take 60 seconds for you to change to a different camera angle?

the exception didn't suck. you got to be kidding me. you write a script, seriously. I had women in my class crying, telling me how much they liked the writing so I know it has some qualities. when you sit in the directors chair you are going to mess up but nowhere did you take as long as you exagerrate.

Bahaha that was the gayest thing I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of gay things.

Were they also clawing at the windows, screaming to let them out?

Sorry dude but I was just got too bored so I couldn't watch the videos to the end
Nothing personal but they're just not my piece of pie. Well ok if women were crying after seeing that then I guess it pretty much explains why I didn't really enjoy it. The directing looked pretty professional though that's all I can give a comment on. Add blood and explosions to the next one you make and I'll give you a thumbs up :)

lol... no you fag but that was funny to read. seriously if you were there you would have seen the magic of the moment. the exception could have been a lot cooler if I had 2 more cameras but I didn't. I would have been able to have a close up of alex the ghost.

but seriously, a lot of women connect with this piece because they've lost a loved on, lost a wedding ring, or they are just emotional wrecks and when they watch something like this they break down.

Man, both of those videos had the production value of an 80's porno.

Seriously, I'm not taking a stab at you whatsoever, both of those videos honestly reminded me of the openings to an 80's porno flick. The lighting, the titles, the sets, everything.

lol... its a college studio, nice equipment but the props suck so I use minimal props and focus more on the angles or the effect and the writing rather than trying to build some fake lavish set that will look silly. I like shooting on location, not in a studio like this. it's a lot different and I wouldn't suggest it to you unless you wanted to seriously be a director/producer. its not easy to do live directing.

and can u change my user name now back to hollymood entertainment ?

the exception is cool, I like it a lot personally. these two candles is cool and it was one of the first serious shorts I ever produced. when I wrote and directed these shorts I was a total stoner, medicinal marijuana smoker so I was puffing legal and I was puffing all the the time and I used to write a lot of scripts like these. I've written over 1,000 pages of scripts.

How was it legal?

The vids were pretty 90's style, haha. Picture quality looked like it anyways. The audio was like you recorded it through a phone though.

the audio sucks because its was from a 2nd or 3rd generation vhs tape. my safety told me I could clear it up in some audio programs but the editor I worked with to put this together didn't have any audio software like that unfortunately.

it was legal and still is for me. I graduated high school luckily be the skin of teeth. I need 5 more credits. my teacher told me to make a documentary. he knew I used to sell a lot of weed but I still smoked and I was like an authority figure to a lot of the people at my school, they just looked up to me when it came to staying out of trouble. the teacher was cool as fuck with me, still is cool as fuck with me, he told me, make me a documentary about marijuana. so I started making this doucmentary and then I found jack herer online and he's one of the main activists responsible for legalizing mariajuana for medicinal uses in the state of california and elsewhere, he is also the author of the book, the emperor wears no clothes.

somebody should probably start a seperate thread with his website url which is http://www.jackherer.com/

put it this way, in like 1990-something, I forget which year, at the cannabis cup there was this un-named strain of herb going around and it won the competition and out of respect the judges and the grower named it "jack herer"

so anyways, im interviewing jack herer for the documentary and he busts out his doctors card and tells me to call him. smoking weed helps me with headaches and back pains so medicinally it is legal for me to smoke in california with a doctor's recommendation. so I go to his doctor and get a recommendation and a card. im still in high school, im producing a marijauna documentary and I am smoking and growing legally. I don't grown anymore but I still smoke occasionally.

so I finished the production, I got my 5 credits, I graduated, school administration was not happy but I got away with it somehow. the city I live in is also so strict, the copy, the deans, everybody knew what I was doing and the fact that I got away with it was amazing. but I have been harrassed a few times by the cops but nothing worth writing about.

one time though, a few years ago we were smoking out my buddies garage big time and one of the nieghbors smelled it, called the cops. the cops raid the garage and busy us all. I had like a quarter of some good chronic. I get a ticket and get a court date. I go to the judge, who happens to be my friends day (I'm a lucky mother fucker) and I show him my doctors recommendation paperwork and I walked out paying no ticket.

so that's the story in a nutshell.
