DVD Region Codes

So anyways, I wanna buy loads of these DVD's, for a bargain price, but they are region 1 DVD's.

Can I play region 1 DVD's on my PC?

I have a region free DVD Player, but my TV isn't NTSC compatiable, will it still be able to play them in my DVD player? what will happen?

I'd just rather watch them on my DVD player, than sit watching them on my PC.
Anyone had any past experiance with stuff like this?

I'm pretty sure I can play them on my computer anyways, but I just need to know those questions.^

Yup you can play region 1 on your PC. DVD drives are multi region. There's something about it only changing a number of times or something, I'm not so clear on that :/


I'm also quite sure you can play them on your TV too if you have a multi region DVD player. NTSC is pretty much down to gaming, where the game plays slightly quicker.

When you use DVD's on a laptop you only have the ability to change the region 3 times.

Yeah, I've actually seen that thing where you can only change it a certain amount of times.

What's with that? anyway to stop it, somehow?
Should be alright then, I'm just gonna take a chance and buy the DVD's for my DVD player.

My TV is NTSC compatible, so I can watch region 1 DVDs on my multi region DVD player. I think most PAL TVs novadays can play back NTSC also. Mine (Thomson) is at least 5 years old, and it can do it.

PC drives are usually not multi-region (you can switch region a couple of times, but then it lockes to the last one, region 1 or region 2, depending where you ran out of changes). There is a software though, which enables you to play multi region DVDs. http://www.dvdidle.com/order.htm?s=region

I am not sure though, that it is legal to use it.
