Homegrown Collection Review Thread

Dan G- Instantly preferred the music and editing in his section. I quite disappointed though was a little to much randomness than actual stunts, id seen most of the stuff in the mixups but Head tacks and finger nails both really good made up for it.

Muppets Video-Prolly one of the best sections, I had seen all the footage before it was basically the faceoff footage with couple of car things. I thought the editing was poor on the muppets section, don’t think it gave there footage justice. The face burn was wicked, I loved the comment “I thought that would happen”

Arse Marks- Seen most of this as I own 9,10,11,few thing I hadn’t seen though I liked the policeman bit overall,content was ok not keen on the editing on this section, fav thing microwave explotion

AssTreMe- I don’t think there was anything in this section that hadn’t been on the net at some point, content was ok nothing stood out in particular some cool skating, didn’t like the editing to much on this bit

Ghost Monkeys of Chaos-Some cool bails in this section I liked the fact they spent more time on the floor than on boards, all new footage to me, not keen on music choice or editing.

Trailer Park Mafia- Didn’t like it to much like someone said some bits are drawn out to long, scab smoking an hair, only plus I liked some of the fire things , an fish bitin his nose was quite funny. Didn’t think the editing on the mix up was to bad considering the poor filming

Who Gives a Shit- Id seen the best bits ages ago on there original promos, filming was poor at best in most places, a lot of filler footage probably made the editing look worse than it was, obvious highlight of rollerblade face plant.

Extreme Harma- are these guys only in the extras?? not very long section nothing stood out so no real comments

Death vs Luke Hadley- Im sure the most of this is in his sections on best of byw 1, I liked some of the throws and such I thought editing was just a little poor. The burn thing was cool was quite funny but I think it lasted a lil to long

Short Bus- Some of there pranks ok and the sick thing was awful, filming was poor though and editing was awful, to much of that fat kid I think moody likes him


Overall some sections were ok but I had seen nearly all the footage and the editing had no real style to it, was just straightforward. Ill just have to wait to see the individual groups I like dvds
Also from what I seen I think it could have done with the retardz section being in it.

I did, pre-ordered it like 5months early.

I'd say it's not worth the money too, no offense too the groups in it, it's hard too explain.

It was really hard for me too watch all the way through, the editing was poor and the overall production was crappy tbh, the content was good but alot of groups are complaining that they didn't even use their best footage, it just seems like it could of been 10x times better knowing that.

I loved some parts of some sections, but I hated other parts of some sections, if you know what I mean.
It dragged on.

Well tbh, I'd watch LSD Riders over this anyday.
I'm sure that might of been different if all the groups footage was used and I think what was another major let down for us here at HGF was the content that had already been seen (which was alot of it) it's just not one of those DVD's you can watch over and over without fast forwarding anyways, well for me it is and it gets really boring, even though I love watching stunts, as for the LSD Riders DVD... it was well, but simply edited, the production was awesome and it was non-stop action, flowed perfectly.

Overall it was worth the money in the end.... for the groups, but with that out of the way I'd only pay £5 for it, max (cover art, disc, box).

EDIT: I have noting against Moody though, I mean he is doing good, if what he has said will come true, but I think the HGC DVD could of been 10x as better.
If the production and editing in the 2nd one is just the same, then I'll lose even more faith....

but its mainly aimed at people who havnt heard or seen HG groups much

no I had another editor handle it that has done some editing in mainstream hollywood movies but minimal and he edits trailers for indy movies but his trailers are insane.

I didn't want the footage all distrted and extremely fast paced. I tried to give the dvd a balance and this dvd was designed for the casual veiwer or the fan of this kind of footage, they will love it. if you are a homegrown member of some group, it might not be your style, or you might love it. in this community everybody will have a different taste and some people just want to talk shit.

pretty much I feel everybody is being fairly honest. im in the middle of page 3.

im not working with this editor. I have new editors handling the homegrown dvds we're currently editing.

So one of the main drawcards when you were trying to get everyone on board was that you had the lord of the ring editor doing it.

Then magically after you get everyones footage you change editors and give some lame ass excuse.

honestly, you're wrong. people that I've given the dvd to that I'm friends with will let their friends borrow it and their friends will refuse to return it back their friend.

people are really enjoying this dvd and since you guys are in the inside looking out, you don't know what it's like to be a viewer from the outside looking in.

there's nothing wrong with the editing at all. it's kept to be shown in it's original quality, little to no effects and personally this editing style is what made the dvd really cool in my opinion. it made the footage feel VERY real and of course the footage is real, but it enhanced the realness rather than adding all these different effects, etc...

Also, this dvd is the first in a series. I am going to have a different editor handle each dvd in the series unless we find the PERFECT editor and everybody insists that he edits ALL the HGC dvds, then I'll stick with him forever if you guys want that.

I have a couple editors currently editing some Homegrown related DVDs that will be released soon, so I'll be judging their footage in the next 2 weeks and I'll decide if either of those editors will be the editors for the HGC part 2 or if I need to find somebody else.

but yes, I'll have several different editors handling the series and I want each video to have a unique style and a different theme if possible.

also, notice that just about everybody reviewing the DVD has a different taste, a different style that liked. no 2 viewers, even on this board probably 100% agree with the ranking of the group section on this DVD because everybody has a different opinion, even when doing just the top 5. its a hard thing to do.



he was too busy handling my new jack: hardcore dvd + he costs a lot of money to have edit and I don't know if it would have paid itself off to have him edit the production yet. once it gets distribution yes, but he isn't a cheap editor.

I chose for him to do the new jack dvd and I don't regret it one bit because that dvd is bad ass and getting great reviews and new jack will probably end back up in the new ecw so that dvd will bring a lot of attention to my other productions



sorry but you guys are trying to analyze something through the eyes of a normal viewer but you can't because you guys do this stuff everyday or everyweek. you can't honestly review the dvd or the editing I feel because this dvd was not made to appeal to this board. this dvd was made to appeal to viewers that will buy the dvd and make me and the groups involved money. that's what this dvd is about. you guys ahve totally blurred vision I feel because for starters you've seen a lot of this footage before probably since you're on this board but you might have had very high expectations too.

the dvd is getting great reviews and the feedback has been great so far. you guys are just reacting differently because you see this DVD through another kind of light, probably because it's a little too close to home.

the next HGC DVD is going to be much more advanced with crazy effects and a lot of eye appeal editing but it won't be overdone... it will be kept to a level so it has value and it isn't overdone.

Why wasnt that done with this one?



Moody, Ive seen heaps of Homegrown DVDs that I like. I dont think many people have a problem with the content on the HGC, just how it was produced. For you to sit there and say peoples opinions arent valid because they're in the scene is absolute bullshit.



Please point me to one in a semi legitimate respected publication. Im yet to see one. Only a few in some lame wrestling sites that most people have never heard of before.
