Using firearms in videos

If you are gonna make a video with guns and stuff in it,can you get in trouble if you're not the legal age to own a gun?

If your not actually gonna fire it, for the footage itself..... then just use a fake gun? :S
That is, if your filming a skit or something.

No I am actually gonna shoot it,that's why I was wondering if there were any laws against minors doing that on film

You plan to make a video and shoot a live gun? If you misfire or accidently hit someone with that you'll be done for manslaughter, not to mention you legally need a license to own a gun which you do not have.

Not smart, use cap guns.

I don't plan on hitting anyone,I would just be shooting stuff I have set up for targets,the gun would be in my dads name,so it would be all legal.

Doesn't matter, you're not experienced in firing guns so anything can happen. By the looks of it that gun is fairly powerfull and without a steady hand, or if you miss the target the bullet can fly for miles. If someone were to get hit there would be an inquiry in which you'd get found out from evidence such as fingerprints you left on the gun.

It really is not a smart move to make.

I'm not sure on legalities regarding specifics assuming some authoritive figure found the video, however "being carefull" using a gun is very different to actually using one. When you use a powerfull gun, there is alledgedly a forceback when you fire. Now if you wern't used to that pushback and the gun slipped slightly to the right and the bullet shot someone, what would you do? Be done for manslaughter. Laws are laws, and really in place for a reason. So whilst you being on camera shooting the gun would be illegal, it's unlikely you'd be caught, however the threat of not being able to use a large gun properly is very real.

I advise against it, you're really better off using imitation cap guns although if my advice slips you by then get blanks for the gun rather than live rounds.

Guns don't really work that way. Simple physics wouldn't allow you to make a mistake like that. The bullet would have already exited the barrel before you ever felt the recoil from the gun. Once the bullet is fired there's no altering its trajectory until it hits something. The only human error you could make when firing a gun is during the aiming process.

Expecially more dangerous if you're firing a huge cluster of buckshot.

If you do buy a shotgun.. get birdshot ammo. Less kick to it.. less danger.

Its legal. Its only illegal for a person under 18 to buy a gun, not to possess one. Think of all the kids who would get arrested when they went hunting with their dads if it was illegal. Now, its ONLY legal if your using it in a legal way. You cant be running around public with a shotgun or your pretty much guaranteed to go to jail, and bear in mind almost all cities that are not way deep in the country have laws about discharging fire arms within city limits, be sure to check on that as well.
