Oil is a religion? Lots of different factors cause wars, religion may play big parts in some but it takes a lot of other things to create hatred and wars.

Religion also causes a lot of good in the world too and leads to a lot of people having a better quality of life. I'm agnostic so I'm not just saying that because I'm a bible basher or whatever I just think that religion does do a lot of good aswell as the bad things.

Religion isn't intended as outcast judgement towards other people, it's intended as setting some set rules that you can chose to stick to that in the eyes of the religion go about dealing the greater good and if you realise they all aim to do good. It's people like this bitch and the extremists that take some of the saying literally or distort them to suit their sick needs that can give religion a bad rep. It's not the religion itself but it's how some people interpret them.

However some sociologists say that religion is "the opium of the people" and a method of keeping people down. comunists like marx have the idea that religion just keeps the poor people down. When they ask what they should do to improve their life, their job, their home whatever the church answers "stay faithful and pray" and this is a method of keeping people down. It also gives people some sense of belonging and comfort thinking that the strugles they go through in life will be rewarded at the end. Mainly keeping the poorer people down, and the richer people have no need to pray or struggle because they have everything they need.


It was just the main point I was trying to put across but I got carried away. I personally feel religion is a good thing as it offers people comfort and something ( wether it's real or not ) they can rely on and makes them feel better. I think when people use religion as a reason for war are just using it as an excuse or have interpreted it wrong because of the nature of religions as a whole there would never be orders to hate different kinds etc. because that's not what they are intended for.
