Boring Black Banner

hey im doing a site and at the moment the banner is just a black rectangle DULL.

im bit stuck with ideas for what to do with it.. it has to remain mainly black but can have a dark red to it.

Just want to see what effects or whatever I can had to it to make the background less boring. (the layers on top ie logo etc are all done) but a large chunck is still just the background so any ideas of patterens or effects are welcome.

Its for a band.


Really its just a blac rectangle.. band logo on one side gap in the middle than a band pic on the other side..


Honestly I have this problem with most sites when I have a banner. Thats why alot of sites I design dont actually have one.. all just merge together

so general advice would be good
