I've retouched the first of the pics:

The quality of the original is bad and it contains many compression artefacts. I used a Gauss-filter with radius 0.3 pixels to get rid of the worst of them.

If you look a bit closer you still can see where the letters were.
It would need more time to correct that, but it's possible if the quality still isn't good enough for you.

You will be laughing if you see how simple this is.
The only advantage I have is that I did it with a graphics tablet.
Everyone who works with images should have one. No mouse can do what a gfx tablet is able to.

Wacom I hope?

Nope, not yet. I have still a cheesy Acecad tablet, but I'll buy a Wacom sooner or later
