General question is it okay for a man to cry? Should men hold in their emotions no matter what? What do you guys think?
Personally, I never ever cry. I don't seem to have the ability to do so.

Yes?
Bring on the emo jokes faggots. :|

not in front of people, but he can alone. there's a sense of pride a man must condone.

Completely depends on the situation
30 March 2006, 11:33 UTC#6
Of course he can, but it depends on what you're crying for.
Let's say you start crying because someone close to you dies, that's completely normal but then again if you start crying because your favorite tv show got cancelled or something stupid like that, that's just weird and unacceptable for a man.

guess I shouldn't say I cried because saved by the bell didn't come on when it was suppose to.

Black people can't cry. They lack basic human emotions because they aren't real people.

yeah all depends on the situation, say your wife or child dies, im pretty sure its sweet to cry then.
The 'Masculine Way' is to not cry when you get physically hurt.

I saw a guy cry once, I procedded to punch him till he cryd.

The only acceptable time to cry I can think of is at a funeral.
30 March 2006, 12:55 UTC#17
I dont really see it as a matter of whether it's 'okay' or not. It's not as socially acceptable as it is when a woman cries, but who cares. I never cry, but if someone in my family passed away I would cry for quite a long time...

Yes, why should a guy be any different? If soemthing has happend that causes pain or some shit then a guy has just as much right as a woamn to cry. Socialy it's not acceptable for them to cry infront of anyone as they have to have a level of 'masculinity'. But yeah in short its fine in my eyes aslong as shit has happend in their life to justify it.
30 March 2006, 14:45 UTC#20
Yeah I agree pretty much with what other people have said, if theres a good reason to cry then yeah, but if its for something pathetic then your an idiot, same go's fo girls too, not just guys.
I don't really cry at pain, but its almost certain ill cry when drunk, even if im not upset haha, and when overly tired I can be made to cry really easily.

It's prefectly fine there's nout wrong with it at all, it's probably more unhealthy not to cry. I got real bummed one monday night n' cried, really didn't want to but I don't feel any less of a man for it, some of the people I play rugby with there and were actually really cool about it.
I haven't cried with pain since year 7 when I broke my leg and that's about it, even with meningitis and that I havent cried... I don't see the point in crying due to pain because it does nothing to relieve the symptoms...
Crying for emotional reasons, however, I feel is perfectly fine... [/rant]
30 March 2006, 16:13 UTC#27
I think it is perfectly fine for a man to cry if they have a good reason too.
30 March 2006, 16:15 UTC#28
Haven't cried in physical pain since junior school probably.
Emotional pain though, not too long ago (about 2 weeks ago), damn my emotions and my ex!!!! stupid ho!

I would only cry about a relationship thing, like family or gf or whatever... it's the only thing I personally would be strongly emotionally attached to.
But surely it is ok for a man to cry.
30 March 2006, 17:03 UTC#30
I never cry, I usually do the opposite - I suck water in through my eyes.
