well I only have like 3 Digital 8mm tapes so I usually just copy from 8mm to vhs and reuse the 8mm tape (just stuff that id like to look back on in the future, not for uploading or anything)
so I was just wondering if recording over the tapes alot will damage the tape or even the camera?
thanks

What about mini DV? Because a few times I have taped over dumb stuff and it fucked up, which sucked bc it was good footage I taped, but it was fucked up.

I recorded over something that wasn't important, non-bordumb stuff.

No, just ran out without the extra tapes, only had the one in the cam and wasn't close to a place to get one or the tapes.

dvc30...a pure essential for night shots and skating...
Description: The AG-DVC30 is a competitively-priced digital camcorder with three CCDs and a movie progressive shutter mode. It features three 1/4" 410K pixel CCDs, a 3.5 in. LCD screen, 16X optical zoom and an optical image stabilizer. With 'Movie-Like Recording Mode, you can attempt to create a progressive shutter 30 frames per second frame system by electronically interpolating interlaced images to create frames, producing images that are remarkably film-like. A cine-style gamma curve allows for a movie recording mode. The AG-DVC30 offers full manual control of white balance, shutter speed, focus, zoom and neutral density. The camcorder includes a simple auto/manual button for switching between the two shooting modes. It includes one focus ring, which can be switched to either control zoom, focus or iris. The camcorder also allows you to preset four shooting modes with settings for chroma level, chroma phase, color temperature, master pedestal, AE shift and skin detail.

We used to record, throw onto PC and re-record over the same tape.
Found the quality worsened and its easier to lose footage on a PC.
Just buy tapes and only ever record over lame stuff.

Before, we used to capture any footage on my computer.. I used too just rub over when where done watching them, we used too just record them onto a VHS tape, soo we could just watch whatever we did, when we wanted.
Before we where serious that is, but I still use the same tapes today and I can't really see any quality loss, and thats after years with these Mini DV tapes soo you should be ok for a while. Gonna stop rubbing over now though.
