No More Boomerang for PS3

Chris Morris, a CNNMoney.com reporter, announced that a redesigned PS3 controller is to be unveiled at E3 Expo 2006 in May. The above concept - named “Ball Controller” - was designed by Adam Portilla.

“The controller might have turned out to be the most comfortable ever released, but the world will never know because gamer reaction to the design of the thing was nearly unanimously negative after its unveiling at E3 in May 2005.”

How the fuck could that be comfortable? Put your hands in that position and they'll ache after 5 minutes. I'd much rather be holding a bundle of hypodermic needles than using that thing.

I would love to give it a try nonetheless.

why are sony and nintendo trying to win "weirdest controller ever" award? it seems that they dont care how the controller functions, as long as its fucking bizarre.

360 took the twin-handle design, a joystick under each thumb, two triggers and four buttons. and look how it works. perfect.
stop trying to make controllers that look like sex toys or fucking baseballs and focus on the performance.

Well only way ill know is if I try it. The Nintendo controller looks amazing though... This PS3 one reminds me of a old Comedor 64 joystick I had that fitted in one hand.

But I cant judge until I try it so... People just get scared of new things.... Like they were of the N64 controller... But its won best controller loads of times.

the 2 dpads (if that is another under the thumb) kinda gives away some of the controller schemes I mean theres always been 2 analogs and one d pad now maybe a dpad for each analog(most games are promoting the analog sticks now adays) so who knows and the performance is based on the controller as well liam you know nothing...hell most of you dont know anything but thats ok =) I love you all!!

also nothing would be wrong if Sony didnt get sued for the dualshock (which kinda forced them to make a new design ina way)

agreed, the PS2 controller is probably the best ever made.

but the 360 controller is awesome too. its a bit heavy but the design is solid and wireless is just the sex.

one of the main reasons ps2 is better than xbox is the controller. ps2 def has the best controller next to n64 but if they make these fucking ball controllers they better make it so ps2 controllers work on the ps3 or ill be pissed

Id like a new controller its new and makes you feel like your playin a new system....so I look forward to whatever sony has to offer....Ill tell you what through thick and thin.....Press and media.....News and Web articles.....Sony is prolly the only electronic company that has pleased me more than pissed me off....most of there shit is grade a quallity and I have yet to be displeased with what they have been putting on the VideoGame Market...and im sure sony wont fall victim to Xbox360 or "CONTROLLER ISSUES"


Blah blah blah yeah there were good controllers in the past but past was past im sure once the new controllers actually go and people get a feel for them they wont be disappointed as they think they will be.....Each controller any Company has ever made was modeled to best suit the type of generation console and video games associated with the console......N64 controller was good for the n64 but would prolly be a disaster now....So no point in crying over spilt milk lets just wait and see

Actoully now that I think of it I think you are right I remember a year ago I went to a site where there was a bunch of pictures on how the ps3 would look and how controllers would look and there was a bunch of crazy shit like that. I bet ps3 will come with a basic controller

yeah I think so too. But if not it will have options to have one.

I dont care much really... if its new it will be cool as I find the PS1/2 design very basic and wish it had more too it like the N64 did (I have a N46 controller for my PC ) so maybe its a chance to do that... and if they dont change it... well I dont have to hear everyone bitching about it... so I win both ways really.

But the PS3 will kick ass. "if" they do everything they said they would... well its a dream comp.

But I think it will come out if 2007 now... or christmas
