does anyone know if/how you can do a system restore without being logged into windows?

Maybe in safe mode, but even then you have to log on, so no, you can't.

Just repair your system using your XP CD. System restore rarely works effectively.

Yes you can...

When you turn you pc on tap f8 and you will get a option for "last known good config" that will do the same!

if dont work hit me back and ill try somthing diffrent

Once again, system restore is a load of bullshit. If files are corrupt it won't make any difference as it just takes a snap of a few select system registry settings.

system restore rocks... as it ment less work for me when I used to work in a call centre... I could tell the customer to do a system restore and call back if it didnt work... they always think its gana work so they hang up MUWAHAHHAHAHa

heh everytime I done a system restore I bin fine :D I once restored to two years ago and it worked fine (I had to restore as I had some badass corrupt shit on my pc I couldn't get rid of :D

2 years? fuck man, ive never got a restore point that long back as I format my pc all the time

Never worked that well for me, perhaps because I mainly had trouble with Win2K machines. No trouble at all with XP, but that's hardly suprising as I only use it for games, MSN, HGF, Watching Videos and web dev.

you can do system restore, just press F8 before the windows screen loads and try to do it from there. have you tried safe mode.
