Doubt it very much. They were just following orders I suppose. And I doubt they realised the extent to how bad some of them were stuck.

Because the landing has to go fast. They can't stay in a boat standing still on the shore cause they'd be eaten up by a rocket or a grenade in no time. They have to take cover by going down as fast as possible.
It looked kind of stupid in that situation but that would be the only way to have a better chance of surviving if they were in real combat.
Edit: Or then they were just stupid lol, but I think that the basic procedures are pretty much the same in any country's armed forces. At least that's what we were taught to do.
