Ok so my dad sold the cam I had been useing "ie". the trv80 so untill I get my broadcast camera in sept he brought home a HDR-HC1 for me to use.. My first impressions of the cam were that its about the same size as my old trv80 but the hc1 is lighter, also it shoots alot smoother and the menu is very imperssive too (not bad for a loner cam). I dont have a HD DV tape yet so I just filmed in standard DV format to see the quality. It is a 1 ccd with cmos and has both the new super steady shot and the new super night shot. here are some pics of it along with the test video I made.The video is in Xvid because I like .avi format so it wont dtream but its only 25mb

I have to admit it's a good looking camera. It's a shame it's only 1ccd. How good is the nightshot Brent?

I think HD is ahead of its time. Very few have HD tvs, which is where the only noticable improvements are and very few have computers that could handle editing with HD quality footage. I'd much rather have a 3ccd camera compared to a 1ccd HD. However it does look nice and probably attracts a lot of girls, maybe.

HD Tapes are $19.99 CAD compared to standard DV tapes @ $12.99 CAD so there an extra $7 canadian..

I diddnt buy it man.. it's a free loner cam.. the one im getting is 3ccd and HD and has xlr ports... thats the difference between my current $1000 cam and my soon to be $7000 cam lol but my old one was 1ccd so its not like I lost any quality.

yes it does.. it's xvid so it doesnt stream..
