Louzy Hero got that camera a few weeks ago, it got seized by the police the first time we took it out.

I was really impressed by it, it had a real nice feel to the way it filmed. I can't explain it, it just filmed with a professional look, seemed kinda like widescreen.

Never got a chance to capture any footage to my PC though...I'd post a screenshot overwise

Hey Elliot. That camera was just recently discontinued and replaced by a new camere called the HC3. You can read the article about it here - http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/Sony-...-Camcorder-.htm

If you really want a HD camera but are on a tight budget, then the HC3 would be an obvious choice because it's the least expensive HD camera out there. The HC3 is also $300 cheaper than the HC1.

However, if High Definition doesnt me that much to you, than by all means stay away from the HC3 and HC1. They're only 1CCD and by far the most expensive consumer cameras on the market.

Would a HD HC1 pump out a better picture than a 3CCD budget for around the same price?

So you think I should wait for the HC3? Is it the same camera in a different shell or different cam all together?

I think the main changes between the HC1 and the HC3 are mainly cosmetic. They did get rid of some of its manual features, but Im pretty sure the picture quality is just as good.

Its hard to say if the HC1 would have better picture quality than a 3CCD SD camcorder in the same price range. It's a good question, but I've never used an HD camera so I really couldnt say.

I'm looking at this one.. its the fx1 but brodcast.. it has xlr ports and a shit load of extra options too..

A mate is a soundy for TV and he trying to convince me to get it just because of the XLR inputs.

7k is still so much. im gonna save up like 1700$ and get the panasonic dvc30 I think

FX1 = No XLR
Z1U = 2 XLR


The fx1 got amasing reviews but everyone said the one downfall is no xlr inputs but the z1u picks up where the fx1 left off... even tho its like 3 grand more it is still sooo worth it..

In the prosumer HD market, I think Sony is completely behind. If I was going to pump 5+ grand into an HD camera, it would be for the purpose of creating an indie film and I'd probally wanna have the option to convert to film.

JVC, Panasonic, and Canon all have superior HD cameras in my opinion, and a lot of the reviews I've read agree.

For a little more than Z1U, you could get the JVC HD100. It offers a variable frame rate and interchangable lens, 2 awesome features the Z1U lacks.

I'm really on the JVC HD100...it's definitely the camera I'll be looking into when Im ready to updrade to HD.

Nah, it's a mock 24p. My DVC30 does something like it as well.

Doesn't the canon gl2 have progessive movie mode that takes 30 real frames per second instead of interlaced video?

I remember that being a reason why people chose it over the vx, although I'd take a vx for it's low light capabilities.
