When I was skating I used to tweak my ankles all the fucking time, they got real weak and I found that like after a few heavy sessions my joints got fucked, if this is the same for you take a drug called glucosomine (sp) glucosamine something like that anyways....
It repairs your joints and helps the smooth running of the joints and the synovial fluids that are present in the joints, I took this stuff and it did me a lot of good and really helped to ease out my ankle
if anyone else has like any advice on preventing the wear and tear of skating post it in here

Nope not risking my health again, I've been lucky and I think the surgery has worked I don't want to risk having to go through all that again

take vitamin C to keep your immune system up and healthy.

Someone update me, I just got home and not reading all these new pages!!!
Land your tricks and you wont get hurt as much....

22 February 2006, 21:53 UTC#6
Don't be a fool, wrap your tool.
22 February 2006, 21:58 UTC#7
Heh...if your going to skate you sort of have to expect to get hurt. But you could wear pads so you don't get swell knee/bow, but they look kinda ghey, and they're annoying as hell because they constrict your movement.
22 February 2006, 22:00 UTC#8
Ace Bandages do wonders for twisted ankles...I have skated alot with twisted ankles just by wrapping them...
23 February 2006, 00:15 UTC#9
Skate on bouncy castles.
23 February 2006, 02:21 UTC#10
Throw yourself and pretend it doesn't hurt to impress your friends, then cry when they aren't looking.
Oh yeah, and if you fuck your ankle up, don't keep trying to run on it. Image file not present in the recovered backup

Do you take this thing once, or often?
For some reason, I haven't really been injured in months, I usually roll my ankle, fuck up my knee etc monthly.

23 February 2006, 13:39 UTC#12
I took it one or two times a day, it's really cheep too, did wonders

Ive just started wearing a wrist guard lately because when I fall always seem to fuck my right wrist up.
23 February 2006, 16:05 UTC#15
I know a few people that did that, just keep doing it though and your wrist toughens up, I don't think ankles ever do, there's always weakness there even now after a year or 2 out. Fair play I can't bend my wrists well anymore though
23 February 2006, 16:14 UTC#16
do your knees seem to wear out? my left knee always kills after a hard session of skating same with one of my mates.
23 February 2006, 16:29 UTC#17
Don't get me started on knees

01 March 2006, 22:06 UTC#18
gluco? isn't that just a lot of sugar then.
Anyway I had the same problem man. I've sprained and broken things in my ankle plenty of times. Sometimes when it was cold and I just started skating and just poped an ollie my ankle could already be fucked which sucked.
I've stopped skating since a few months now and I like it. I got tired of the injuries, not learning new cool stuff got me frustrated and I don't want to risk fucking myself up with a stupid stair or whatever.

That's what I did, chilled out for a while and waited till I thought I was ready but if your ankle's like that dude it is always gonna happen, I tweeked it when I was out clubbing the other night but that was the first time within a year, so can't complain...
I don't think it was a sugar based thing, might be glycusomine??
02 March 2006, 23:16 UTC#20
Yeah my ankle seems to be just ok now tho. It's more my knee and left thumb.
Left thumb was shattered and dislocated, muscle alignments were torn (like with skiers when they fall backwards). They had to put a pin in my hand and shit. It still gets stiff or hurts a bit when I have to hold heavy things or put a lot of pressure on it. Thank god Im righthanded. How this happened? Fuck.. nollie fs bigspin down a 6. I fell down so weirdly. I went up and wanted to try it again but as soon as I lifted up my thumb I died.. ouch.
Then there's my right knee. Its so weak its sick. Skating long sessions in cold wether make it painful. When I go to the fitness club and press 70 kilo's 10 times my knee already starts to be fucked up. That's why I actually never trainy my legs. Docters can't help it.. I've been to hospital hundreds of times for it.
Damnit, thats what a few years of skating do to the rest of your life. And I don't even have a lot of nice footy. I have some loose clips around from last year I will post soon.

Oh it's not that my legs aren't strong enough don't get me wrong. It's just that my knee starts acting up. I think my right knee is homosexual.
